Default Renaissance Island, Aruba

Taking HAL's Westerdam over Thanksgiving and going to Aruba one day. Have not been there before and thinking of going to the beach. Heard Palm Beach was way too crowded, Eagle Beach ok, but heard good things about Renaissance Island, owned by Marriott. They have a deal for $75/pp wherein you get a drink, lunch (however, we don't arrive till 1pm so may end up eating on the ship before we disembark), launch to and from, plus one water sport activity. Has anyone been there (R.I.) before? Thoughts? Ideas on the other 2 beaches mentioned? Many thanks and gobble gobble.:-)

We were in Aruba last year on Noordam. Just took a bus out to the beach and spent a few hours. Rented chairs. There are also umbrellas available. Cost us $10 R/T for the bus and $20 for the chairs. Bring your towels, water and hats. Lovely day. Plan on doing the same thing next month on the Zuiderdam.

If you go to visitaruba.com you can pull up a map of the beach locations along with descriptions. I don't think there is one within walking distance of the pier. The bus is very convenient and run regularly along the route. They will drop you wherever you ask.

No, they accept good old American dollars. I generally travel with a supply of singles and 5's to accommodate tips, fares, etc.

Since you are doing the same cruise after us, I will report back after we return on November 13.

Cannot wait.

I don't think they care as long as it's $$$$. But, as I said, I generally carry a quantity of singles and fives which usually covers all transactions on board and off ship.

U.S. currency is accepted all over the Caribbean and specifically in Aruba. You will have no difficulty with U.S. dollars.

The ship docks right at downtown Oranjestad and if docked port to the dock, you can see Ferragamo from your window or veranda.
