We are looking at a sailing either on the Eurodam or Westerdam in March and are looking at booking a deluxe verandah suite. We're in our early 30's and are looking for a laid back vacation. We've cruised on Carnival three times before. What are your thoughts? What do you love? Is it worth it to spend the extra money and get the deluxe suite? Thanks so much!

Hi there - we sailed on the Eurodam in June of this year - the Baltic Cruise. We had a verandah suite, it was well worth it. Lots of space on the verandah, lots of cabin space and storage, and the bath was a bonus ! The ship itself we couldn't fault, crew were fantastic and very pleasant and obliging in every way. The only thing I would say is - and this may be due to the itinerary of the cruise, if you want a hectic nightlife it isn't for you. Once dinner is over, most folk retired to their cabins, we weren't tempted to spend any time in the bars as there wasn't much going on. This suited us as we had many early starts off ship, and like I said, the itinerary probably suited older folk anyway ( we are late fifties and early sixty !) Maybe on a different cruise destination the ship would be more lively at night. Food fantastic, crew marvellous, everything ran like clockwork. That's just our opinion though. We've only done 2 cruises, the other was Princess, we thought that was great but Holland America - I would definately go with them again. Hope this helps with your choice, you dont' say where you are considering going but have a great time anyway !

We love the Eurodam and the Deluxe Suites, in fact booked in one again for December.
We love the big spacious room & verandah; jacuzzi bath and separate shower stall; small dressing room; double sinks in bathroom.
We are older but DD is in her late 40's and we all just like a laid back vacation, friendly crew and good food. Love the Neptune which all Deluxe Suite passengers are able to use. First thing in the morning, I go in there and get a cappucino before I even think of breakfast.
I am sure you will like either ship, but Eurodam is newer.
I have sailed HAL twice, on the old Westerdam, and the Zuiderdam. While I preface this by saying we did enjoy our cruises, we did have issues on the Zuiderdam..The main issue on both cruises was, the lack of people enjoying the ships at night..way too quiet for us,and I mean quiet...and we are not even party people

I will take the quiet ship over the late nite party goers we have encountered on some other lines not to mention by name and we are going on Eurodam in jan.
I have cruised on Hal for the past 6 years from aOutside stateroom to a Suite opposite the Neptune lounge.I have cruise with Carnival and RCL. HAL Wins in my opinion. You can't beat the service HALS provides.
I agree that a quieter ship, over a very rambunctious one, is a plus, but with my 2 experiences, it was quite unusual. To have a just a handful of people in the casino, and near empty public areas, was just strange to us. Guess everyone decide to go to sleep real early....

I think it depends on the cruise location. We've only sailed the Caribbean which seems to be more upbeat that the Europe cruises from what I hear. We were on HAL a long time ago and I have yet to find a cruise line that provides an overall exceptional cruise that HAL provides. With the exceptional of NCL I have not had a bad cruise. I have friends who just got off the Eurodam Caribbean cruise and they regularly sail with Carnival. They were so impressed they are going back to HAL for their next cruise. They said the entertainment was very upbeat and very good. The ship went to sleep around 1AM but they said if there were people in the clubs and bars they stayed open to accommodate the guest. Granted my friends did say the party was not as wild as Carnival or RCI but they said there was better entertainment in terms of what appealed to them and equally impressive comedy shows. I think you will really enjoy HAL. Good luck.
