Default Dutch Chocolate Extravaganza

Does HAL still offer the Dutch Chocolate Extravaganza on their cruises?

Don't they sometimes hold it in the afternoon after the Lido closes after lunch or is it always held in the evening or am I just dreaming.

The memory isn't what it used to be!

They usually hold it in the afternoon (sea day) and you can, just as before, go into take photos 1/2 hr before time. I think this is so much better than at night because by then, most of us are all tired and full. Now we can see what/how much we really are eating!

We just got off the Zuiderdam and the Dessert Extravaganza was held one evening starting about 10:15PM.

Oh, so they change it for every ship, I guess. Will report in when they hold it when I return (hopefully not much fatter--I only go for the photos anyway).

I have once again experienced the fabulous " Dessert Extravaganza " on yet another HAL cruise aboard the Nieuw Amsterdam ! It took place around the Lido pool at 10:30 P.M. and it was well attended . So many passengers stayed up late to revel in such amazing pastry delights ( the only one that was missing was the crepe Suzette ) . It was quite a spread to take in with all the pastry chefs who demonstrated their culinary skills as well as displaying their artful ice sculptures ! Truly an event not to be missed ! Lane

The last time I saw it was during the afternoon because my photos were time stamped and I also seem to recall it was the Ryndam because the first photo taken was an open book cake? with its name on it with Desert Extravaganza also in writing. I'll have to go back to see if my memory is correct, but I'll fill you in when I come back from Westerdam to see what time they had it. At any rate, they still have it and I guess it is still delicious and beautiful.

On Westerdam, it was on Wed eve 10:30 (take photos at 10:15). This was second formal night (Fri to Fri cruise) and was held in Lido Restaurant.

Hope this helps! P.S. Still have the Yum Yum man and his goodies waiting outside the main restaurant after dinner, too.

I can't remember why, but my DH and I skipped this on our last cruise.

If it's what I think it is, I don't want to miss it on this next trip.

So, at the risk of being dumb, what exactly is it?

If memory serves, it followed the 2nd formal night around 10:30 on Eurodam cruise.
