Default Are there document scanners on Oosterdam?

We are selling our house and if we get an offer to purchase, we may need to sign documents and send them back with a scanner. How do people conduct business onboard if they need to send back signed documents. HELP! We have never done this before.../Thanks.

You'll have no problem. You can receive and send emails, and if you need to print and sign a document, either the Internet Cafe manager will help you send it, or the ship can fax it for you.

We are waiting to close on our sale and hope to get it done before we sail in 25 days.

Some realtors are using "electronic signatures" now. Maybe it is an option for you.....

I was on the Oosterdam recently and there was always someone on hand in the computer area (tenth level, I think) to help you with similar projects. Computer access to the net can be frustratingly slow. Wireless access from the stateroom sometimes works well.

I wouldn't be all that happy having to worry about doing this during a cruise, however. I would prefer to have someone onshore authorized to handle the details -- I would be able to read messages about the deal on the ship, then send emails to the authorized party to handle stuff like printing and signing. Maybe that's just me, though.

In case of problems, there is a nice bar area (and coffee bar) right next to the computers. And a pretty current library.

We had a very similar situation last year when we sailed on the Carnival Glory. We had a snag come up while we were on the ship, and I was afraid we'd need to exchange some faxes with our agent. Called Guest Services and explained the situation, and they were very helpful, giving me the fax number to the ship for our agent, and telling me there would be no charge to send or receive small documents. Turns out we didn't need to use the service, but it was nice to know we could.

Granted, you're on HAL and not Carnival, but I'd bet they'd treat you similarly. My advice would be to call them before you sail and explain the situation. That way, you'll already have all the info you need to give to your agent before you sail.
