I'm confused. What day/date is it that you want to know what to do in Fort Lauderdale? All you have stated is 12/11 - i.e. December, 2011.
Are you flying into FLL a day early, arriving the same day as the ship sails, taking a late afternoon flight home, staying in FLL after the cruise or driving to FLL?
Could you please give us more information as to which day you will spend in FLL.

The date is 12/11, a Sunday when we are between cruises on the same ship. Did the same thing last year and wasted a day. What we're really looking for is free transportation/shuttle to a beach hotel/attraction/ferry. Somewhere interesting to go where we don't have to hire a cab to get there.
I doubt there is a shuttle to a beach or any place else - at least we have never seen one on a turn-around day in the past. I think you are going to have to take a cab.
We are fortunate as we have friends living in FLL and they pick us up at the ship and take us to lunch - usually Hooters.
You may want to check with the Excursion desk when you are on board and see if they have an excursion or anything scheduled for passengers staying on the ship for the next leg of the trip.
