Default Donald Trump recommends HAL?

I just read a very interesting thread on another cruise website.

It seems that for the last several years, HAL has required all service staff to wear a lapel pin that signifies a "5 Star Diamond Award" to HAL from the American Academy for Hospitality Sciences - an organization that hardly anyone in the Hospitality Industry has never heard of.
The AAHS is a for-profit company owned by a Mr. Joseph Cinque, who is closely involved with the Trump Organization.
Mr. Cinque is also a convicted felon, better known by the mob as "Joey No-socks Cinque".
Donald Trump is the "Ambassador Extraordinaire" for the AAHS, and his name and signature appear - very large - on all their plaques, medallions, and literature. Donald Trump's sons are on the Board of Directors of AAHS. Mr. Trump claims not to know Mr.Cinque, but in a recent interview, claimed that "Mr. Cinque is a good man."

How does a cruise line, hotel, or golf course get rated by the AAHS?
Simple. AAHS only rates companies that purchase very expensive memberships in AAHS.
There is only one rating level: Excellent.
Every company that has purchased the expensive AAHS membership has been rated Excellent by AAHS.
There are no inspections or standards to meet - other than being able to purchase the pricey memberships, then purchase the pricey lapel pins, and the pricey gold plaques that HAL has posted behind the front desk on all its ships for the past decade or so.

What a concept. Reduce services and quality. Raise prices. Then pay the US President to verify that you have an excellent product.
Only in America.............

There is a lot more information on this circus out there. Just Google AAHS or Joey Cinque.

Nothing new:

Royal Caribbean dumped sewage in Glacier Bay and was banned. The next year they created their own eco award and gave it to themselves. They display it on their ships

James Beard awards are controlled by a few high level people and the voting is often skewed.

AAHS has been around since 1949 and is probably just a pay for an award company. It's like Who's Who and Who's Who in Business. Pay for the book and you get your name in it. No matter who you are.

Take care,
Mike

There is one tiny difference between RCCL Dumping sewage / the James Beard Awards, and AAHS.

The President of the United States - so far as we know - did not receive any payments from RCCL or the James Beard people, nor did he endorse them.
