Is anyone familiar with the Radisson Ambassador in San Juan or any other reasonably priced clean hotel convenient to cruise dock, preferably wiht a pool.? Thanks
Log onto prtourism.com. There is a complete list of hotels in and around San Juan including direct telephone numbers. The Wyndham Old San Juan is right across the street from the piers. Many cruisers recommend Hotel Milano or the El Convento as good values. They are right in Old San Juan. Do book the hotel your self and take a taxi to the hotel from the airport. The hotel you are referring to may be on the Condado, a taxi ride away from the Old historic city which is a must to take a walking tour if you have never been to San Juan. Make sure to use any discounts like AAA, AARP, a credit card, Entertainment book, etc. Always call the hotel directly and ask for the Manager's Special.
Bon Voyage.
We stayed at the Hampton Inn in San Juan. Our travel agent suggested it, she stays there when she goes on cruises. It is very close to the airport, and was convienent for our late flight in. It was about a 20-30 minute taxi ride to the pier, but we had to manuever thru a parade to get to the ship.
The hotel was very reasonably priced, had a nice pool with a swim up bar and grill, free continental breakfast, and a helpful staff. They have all the delivery menus at the front desk and are more then happy to give recommendations on local food that we were not familiar with.
Check out time was at noon but we couldn't get on the ship until 2pm so they let us put the luggage behind the front desk and hang out at the pool until we left for the ship for free. That was very nice. They cater to cruise guests as one of the hotels that is a shore excursion for those with late flights out after the cruise.
