After disembarking the Volendam, we stayed at the Fairmont Waterfront Centre. It is directly across the street from the pier. We had a corner room with views of the pier and the city. The room was ready for us at 11AM. The food is excellent. The hotel staff went out of their way to make our stay pleasant.
When our stay in Vancouver was extended by the events in NYC and DC, we received a phone call telling us that we could stay as long as necessary. The price for the extra nights was greatly reduced.
The location is great -- across from the pier, walking distance to Stanley Park and Gas Town. The tour buses all seem to pick up people across the street from the hotel.
