Default Hotwire help

I was thinking about trying Hotwire for a one night hotel stay before a march cruise. Do you think I can go wrong picking a 3 star hotel and bidding $79? Also , For a Celebrity cruise out of Fort Lauderdale should I stay in the downtown area?

Hi Buff,,,
Yes, you'd want Ft Lauderdale, downtown area, which would put you closer to the pier. Don't think you need to bid as high as $79 for 3 Star though. Think a bid of $40 or so would get it for you.

For a 3 * in April, I have had to bid up to $75. FLL is getting tighter on hotel space being released to Priceline or Hotwire. Try checking out the Package tab on Hotwire using your home airport (even though it won't be necessary) and the dates of stay which have to be at least 2 nights. You will get to see the names of the hotels and their amenity icons. Take note of the stars, locations, prices and amenities. Then start over and just check out the Downtown area of FLL and see if any of the hotels and prices match. Of course you will have to back out the air and divide the number of nights into the price. Hope this helps. It is not an exact science.

Use the lists at [url]http://www.betterbidding.com[/ur] to try and figure the hotel out for yourself. They cover both Priceline and Hotwire and they'll be happy to help you figure out the hotels you're seeing.

After reading this site, I'd be more than a bit cautious re hotwire and reliability

Also check out www.biddingfortravel.com they have a message board that lists the hotels in the various zones and star levels and what people have been getting them for recently.

I use it as a companion site for priceline and it has always been right on the mark for me, has really helped me know where to start bidding.
