Going on Grandeur on the 31st also. We are staying at the Reinassance for $169.00, not cheap but close to dock and safe hopefully. Are you scuba divers or snorkelers?

We stayed at the Springhill Suites for one night before our cruise. $89 for the five of us. It was a large room with two queens and a sofabed and included hot breakfast. We walked to the cruise ship terminal from there but don't recommend unless your luggage is on wheels and you're in good shape. It was about a four block walk. After our cruise we stayed at the Wyndham Canal which is quite near the cruise terminal as well. I booked the rooms through Harrahs and paid $39/night. We didn't find the hotel quite as posh as expected. The lobby is very grand but the rooms were dusty and nothing special. I was glad that we didn't pay the regular Wyndham price which was $200-300 but the room was okay for what we paid.

I was recently pricing hotels and I came up with the Merriott. I think their price was only about $119 for 1 bed. (double or queen--can't remember which) if you wanted breakfast the next morning and i think a bathrobe it was $139.00 These prices were for August.

Staying at the Hilton Riverside next week. I have been there before so I know it's beautiful. Go through Harrah's Casino to book. They hold a block of rooms and it only cost us $109/night.

Good Luck!

We've booked a room at the Homewood Suites....but not really sure how close it is to pier. We haven't worked out our parking options yet. I'm trying to convince my hubby to let me switch our reservation to the Maison St. Charles, which is on St. Charles Avenue right on the street car line. My husband prefers staying right in the Quarters, so that's why we're at the Homewood. But, if you're interested...

The Maison St. Charles (I think it's part of the Quality Inn chain) has a Bon Voyage Package for $97/ night with limo service to the port and you can leave your car with them for $5.00 a night., which sounds like a bargain. I'm not sure how you get back to hotel after cruise (I guess a taxi), but that doesn't seem like it would be a major problem.
