Default hotel in Miami

Hi I was wondering if anyone could give me a suggestion on where to stay when we get to Miami. We leave on the cruise Feb. 3rd but we are going to be in Miami on the 31st.
I want to stay in a safe neighborhood. Any suggestions? Thanks

The key to your question is probably .. what's a safe neighborhood?

You can get some very good deals at nice downtown Miami hotels, near to the port using Priceline.com. However, though the hotels are nice and safe, the surrounding neighborhood is not where you'd want to go walking at night by yourself.

Stayed at a DoubleTree hotel near to CocoWalk, which seemed like a relatively safe area to walk in, but then it's a bit of a ride to the pier.

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency in Miami (about 1/2 mile from the port) which overlooked the port. We booked off priceline.com and got it for 45.00 on our Jan 31st 2003 precruise stay. It was a very nice hotel and when they heard we were cruising out the next morning they put us into a high room overlooking the port. Got great pics of the cruiseships all lined up from our hotel window!

Thanks for the tips i tried priceline for the first time, Got the Radisson at the port. Looks like a nice hotel. Started my bid at $55.00 and had to go to $70.00 before I got one how do you guys get them so cheap is there some sort of secret. I mean don't get me wrong I think $70.00 for a $200.00 hotel room is great I will use priceline all of the time from now on. Thanks for the tip I would never have thought about it, if it weren't for you guys.

We got the Radisson three months in advance thru Priceline and got two rooms at $55 each on our first bid. Made me wish that I had started out lower. They must be selling out of rooms for the date that you wanted.

I just went on priceline and got a room at the Radisson for $36 a night. Well, with the tax & fee it came to $47. After spending so much for my family to cruise, it's nice to feel like you've actually saved a littte money. I'll be cruising at the end of March.

Just went to Priceline and got the Radisson Miami for $40 + tax. I was pleased with that since their website is $129.00 + tax. We are sailing March 22, 2004 on Majesty of the Seas! Anyone else? The Radisson looks nice - has anyone stayed there?
