Hi. I don't know if anything has changed but when we stayed there pre-cruise in 2002 and spring 2003, the hotels told us that it is against the law for the hotels to run shuttles. Apparently it's a law designed to help out the cab companies and drivers.
I'm going to cruise out of San Juan this fall and like to go a few days early to travel around the general area and mingle with the locals. I did this in Hawaii and spent several days traveling around the islands by local bus(public transportation). You can get off and on as often as you want and just catch the next bus to continue your trek. The problem I'm having with San Juan is that I can't seem to find an internet site that has any bus routes or schedule information. It would be quite costly and inconvenient to find and secure half a dozen cabs a day for several days when buses run regular routes on regular schedules for under $1. Does anyone know of a way I can secure a bus route and schedule listing prior to arriving on the island? If I could get one now, I could work out a plan of action without waiting to the last minute.
