Default Post Your SUCCESSFUL Priceline Bids HERE

With the CruiseMates Let's Get Lei'd Again cruise coming up, I thought I would try and approach the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Honolulu to see if we could get a group rate, as we had for the first Get Lei'd cruise.

After a few e-mails and phone calls going unanswered, I decided perhaps it would be better to to try Priceline again! WHAT A GREAT IDEA that was!!

Got the Sheraton Waikiki Beach Resort, a centrally located- wonderful hotel, right in the middle of Waikiki beach for $110/night. This property would normally go for at least twice that! And last time, with a group rate at the Hilton, I think we paid around $160/night.

I bid RESORT "class" in Waikiki North zone.

E-mailed the people who are already booked on the cruise, and some of them got the same great rate booked as well. Sure other pre-cruisers will follow.

If you haven't already read my article on the subject yet, I highly recommend you read it for assistance in getting terrific hotel deals before and after your cruises.
http://www.cruisemates.com/articles/...kiReligion.cfm

What I didn't mention in the article was others people in Miami for our last CruiseMates Group Cruise used Priceline as well. Some were at the Radisson Hotel for $35, and others at the Hyatt Dowtown for $50. Both of those hotels are "Priceline" ratings--- 3 Stars- Downtown Zone.

And don't let the Priceline process throw you, it really works pretty simply.

We also do Priceline for pre & post cruise hotels. We bid $50 a night for the Westin Bayshore in Vancouver last year & it was incredible! This year we bid $80 for the Caribe Hilton in San Juan & $75 for the Hilton Dorado. I love biddingfortravel.com because I can see what others are successfully bidding & I just follow along.

We too used Priceline. We were booked at the Holiday Inn in Downtown Miami for $110.00 a night. We are going down a day early before our cruise which leaves on April 11th on the Carnival Victory. I put in a bid at Priceline and I'm now booked at the Radisson for $35.00. I'll always try priceline from now on.

Going on a cruise in late October. A friend who decided to book the same cruise asked me to bid on Priceline for their post cruise stay in November. She received the 4* Renaissance Downtown Fort Lauderdale hotel for $74 the 1st night and $72 the 2nd night. Ended up doing split bidding because they had planned on staying in FLL for 1 night after the cruise, but was so pleased with the price they decided they could afford a extra night so I bid again going a couple dollars lower and received the same hotel. Got to love Priceline.

Just loaded it when I saw your post. Worked fine for me.

Maybe my article touting them sent them too much traffic <G>

After reading Kuki's article, I'm going to try Priceline for my pre- and post-cruise hotel rooms for NYC in October. I'm hoping for the Waldorf Astoria.

Is it too early to bid on hotels for October?

I usually use Hotwire, but I am going to give Priceline a try.

Just love a bargain, more money for cruising.

I just got the Renaissance Harborplace in Baltimore 4/4 for my April 5th Galaxy cruise. Checked cheap hotels and all the dot coms and they were twice what I paid. I love Priceline.

PS I paid $100

I used priceline for my stay in Norfolk before my next cruise. I got a hotel that would normally be priced at $89 for only $40. Beach front with a balcony.

http://www.BetterBidding.com is a great place to research using Priceline and Hotwire.

With Hotwire you can often have a better idea of the hotel you will be getting by matching up the star ratings and amenities. This is especially useful when Priceline's zones are too big and you want to be in a specific area or when there is a 'bad' hotel in a zone that you are trying to avoid.

We got accepted with a $56 bid for the Grand Hyatt in Tampa. It was a top notch four or five star hotel. Zero complaints.

I just tried to bring up Princeline.com and, because I have a Canadian ISP, it defaulted to a homepage informing me that Princeline was for Americans only and Hotwire was for use by both Americans and Canadians.

I had looked at Hotwire earlier and found their prices lower than what you can get on Travelocity or Expedia but not that much lower, plus the unknown has to be factored in.

When I clicked on the Priceline link, it defaulted to a page that provided airfares only and no links to hotels.

It seems Priceline wants to restrict itself to Americans only!

I'm a Priceline Newbie....love it...love it...love it.

Just got NY Hilton and Towers on 53rd Street and Avenue of Americas for $125 and this was for Columbus Day Weekend. I was hoping for the Waldorf but I'm happy with this hotel at this price.

I went back in and bid for my post-cruise three days, but my bid of $110 was not accepted. I will try again tomorrow.

I'm ecstatic, got my cruise booked, my airfare booked and one leg of my hotel stay booked.

Just love those bargains!

George.. I'm a Canadian, and have no trouble accessing the Priceline site. Tried again just now to make sure nothing had changed.

The best successful bids that I've seen in San Juan for 3* or better was $65.00 at the Wyndham Old San Juan Hotel and Casino near the cruise port, but I'd start at $60.00.

These were the four-star hotels I put in for.

Just got the Waldorf Astoria for $125 a night. They wouldn't accept my $90, $100, $120 bids. This is for my post-cruise hotel for NYC in October.

My pre-cruise 3-night stay is at the NY Hilton and Towers and got that also for $125.

I wanted the Waldorf then, but I'm glad I got it now.

I'm all set....cruise booked, air booked and hotels booked. Chinatown...here I come!

For Ft. Lauderdale pre-cruise 2/22/04, I won the bid on Priceline for 2 rooms at $70 each at the Wyndham Airport Hotel. This included free airport shuttle. For a tip, the driver took us to the Tropical Acres restaturant (conceriege made reservations as they have priortiy) and for $7 per adult (there were 7 of us inc. children), the shuttle driver took us to the pier leaving at 10:30 a.m. There are no restaurants or stores within walking distance of this property, but it is nice just for a pre-cruise night stay.
Bon Voyage

My bid of $40 per night was just accepted by the Doubletree Hotel in Seattle. The rack rate is about $130. Not bad for a few minutes of work.
