Nice hotel we got on Priceline.

Not a lot in the immediate area but if just there for a pre-cruise stay for one nite really no need to leave the hotel grouds. Great pool area and a small strip of man made beach. Service was pretty good, but know ahead of time that most PR hotels are not known for high marks in this regard.

If you're there for multiple nites, Old San Juan is just a short cab ride away. Hotel does NOT have a casino if that is important to you, but the Wyndham Condado Plaza is nearby and they have the largest casino in the area.

How is the beach at this hotel? From the pictures Ive seen it looks rocky, are there sandy beaches to lay out on? Is the water too rough to swim in? I have also heard the property is not very well maintained, what did you think?

The beach is man-made. It's big enough to lay our on but it's not like the beach in the Isla Verde section of Puerto Rico. The water is very calm as it's more of an inlet/bay area than the ocean... if you want 'true' beach and ocean you should stay in the Isla Verde section. The beach you describe, as well as the grounds not being well maintained, sounds more like the reports i hear about the Wyndham Condado Plaza then the Hilton.

We found the grounds at the Hilton to be meticulously maintained and the service was quite good (especially when considering PR is not highly regarded for the service levels at their hotels). Everyone has different tastes and may or may not like their rooms (ours was fine), but i found the grounds to be extremely well maintained.

Sounds good, thanks for the info. My girlfriend and I are beach bums so a hotel with a beach is a must! Ive decided to stay here before my cruise in Dec.
