Hi, we are sailing out of the Cape Liberty Cruise Port in New Jersey. Can anyone give me information on where we should stay (a safe area) either in NJ or NY? We have never been to New York or anywhere on the east coast so we really need help. We are thinking about arriving a day or two early for our RCCI cruise in November and would like to see the Statue of Liberty and the World Trade Center Memorial. Can you see the Statue of Liberty from this port? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
There is a Marrott in Newark Liberty airport. And from the airport you can get a train to New York.
When you are coming out of Bayonne you will pass just to the south of the Statue of Liberty.
The trip to the ship from the airport is about 15 min..
What do you want to spend? That may dictate where you stay. There are clean safe budget hotels -- about $89 per night in Port Elizabeth near the AP. The Marriott on the airport grounds is expensive. There's a Hilton in Newark, proper, right on the Path lines for easy transport. If you want a real NYC experience consider staying in the city but understand, cheap hotels go for about $100 per night.
I am curious...where did you end up staying? Did you get to see all of the sights you hoped to? Sorry I only saw this thread today, I am already thinking of so many options you might have had...! Alas, too late.
