We have stayed twice at Commodore on the Beach. Very clean, great location and friendly people. Check their web-site for prices, as they vary depending on time of year and what is going on in Galveston. We found their prices very reasonable. We stayed the night before our cruises, and the night after, and parking was free. (I think there is a small charge if you stay just one night.) The parking is not secure, but they have a camera in the lobby where they can watch the lot. We didn't have any problem. They no longer offer a free shuttle, but will call a cab for you (about $8.00+tip). We had been told that none of the hotels offer a shuttle anymore because the cab drivers were upset about losing fares, but some people we met did have shuttle services from much more expensive hotels, so I don't know if that is true. If you have never been to Galveston it is really very small and very easy to get around. Plenty of restaurants and bars and, if you have time, don't miss the Strand area. Have a great cruise!
