Default hotels near port in long beach

We are flying into LAX on May 28th for a cruise on the Pride on May 29th. Can anyone give us suggestions as to what to do? Should we shuttle to a hotel close to the port and stay there or is there a hotel close to the port? We would like to get out on the 28th and walk around, maybe to a pier and a good restaurant. Any suggestions on what we should do would be greatly appreciated.

The Hotel Queen Mary is across the parking lot from where you board the Pride. It is the actual Queen Mary with staterooms converted to hotel rooms. If you tell them that you are going on CCL they actually have lower rates then their internet pricing. Ask for a deluxe stateroom facing the bay. Many times about $129/night down to $99.. You can also have free check-in the next morning at the hotel and your luggage will be taken from the hotel directly to the ship. Look at their website. There are a couple of restaurants onboard the Hotel Queen Mary with Sir Winston's being of high quality and semi-formal.

The Coast Hotel is the next closest about 1/2 mile from port. You can see the Queen Mary from this hotel. They have free shuttle to/from ship. Right next door is the Reef Restaurant.

You can not go wrong with either hotel.

I second that suggestion :o) The Queen Mary is a must see - we paid $109 for the night - and got to wander all over the ship. We had a very large room - about 12 ft X 30 ft. - amazing, with a port - hole looking over the Long Beach skyline. There are lots of places to eat but several shut down rather early. The early check in was painless. We did it before we checked out of our room - then went back, packed up and headed to the baggage are for the Pride. Then we wandered the shops right next to the dock area. Wonderful. We were on board about 12:30. Enjoy the Pride! Please e-mail if you have any questions. TTFN Jennifer

we stayed at the Coast Long Beach which is very close to the Carnival cruise terminal and the Queen Mary. We actually walked to the ship because it is connected by sidewalks and runs right next to the water. A very nice walk. We are going on the Pride this time on June 12- I just tried to book the Coast Long Beach again, and that and every other hotel in Long Beach is booked solid. we ended up with rooms in Seal Beach which is about 5 miles away. Don't know if it is typical summer business or if something is in town that week. I'd check quickly, though.

Hcat, the Coast was a very nice place to stay -- big room with a sofa and granite showers. The views are great on the bayside, and the Reef restaurant within walking distance makes for a nice evening out.

Check the posts too because someone gave rave reviews to the Vagabond Inn in S. Pedro.

The Coast is the way to go. No complaints at all. There is a sea port village with little shops and dining nearby.

we stayed at sunrise. best western. It was just ok. on a rating 1-10, probably a 4. Showers are terrible. You would get more water if you poured a glass over your head. Seems to be a very old building. Good breakfast. My friends stayed at Marina INN. They said it was fine.
