Cruising from Miami/flying in-out of Fort Lauderdale
Flights to FLL are less expensive than MIA ... our current hotel reservation for night before cruise is Embassy Suites Miami Airport. Is this doable? How far is FLL from Miami pier. I need to check to see if Embassy Suites will pick us up at FLL airport (they obviously would at MIA), and then reserve a Super Shuttle van to take us from hotel to pier and then from the pier to FLL. Just wondering if we should consider staying somewhere in between FLL and Miami pier, or if our plans are workable. We are a family of 6, so we would definitely need a van for transport to/from pier and airport.
I live in Southwest Florida, so we cruise out of both ports regularly. The Embassy is a great hotel. The distance between FLL and MIA is not that much. It's about a half hour drive. The FLL airport is right off of the major highways to help you get from one to the other. Plus, FLL is not as busy. If you don't hit rush hour, you can get from one to the other quickly. You might try and rent a van from FLL to MIA, or have you considered getting a hotel in FLL? Again, if you did, you wake up in the morning, have breakfast, get everyone aboard a van and off you go to the port of Miami.
BTW - Some people like to cruise out of FLL, but we prefer MIA.
you will need to make transportation arrangements to get your family from the airport in Ft. Lauderdale to your hotel in Miami. Since there are 6 of you it might be cheaper to do a one-way car rental if you don't mind driving from Ft. Lauderdale to Miami. Otherwise you can do the shuttle.
The Embassy Suites in Miami will shuttle you to the Miami pier. Reserve your spot on the shuttle as soon as you check in as they fill up fast.
