I will be able to respond to you in one month as I am staying there Oct 17-19 after a Princess cruise. It is on their post-stay list, so it can't be all bad.

Default Crown Plaza St Peters Rome, Italy

Please let me know what you think about this hotel. I believe we are going to go ahead and book at the Ambascatori for April/May both pre-cruise and post cruise.

I would love to hear of your entire experience with this trip. I know that you are very excited as we are.

As promised, we are back from the cruise.
First, the hotel is fine. BUT I would not say it is within walking distance to the Vatican (which their web page implies). It is a Crown Plaza much like you would fine in the US. They do provide shuttle to St Peters and City Center (at a specific time) as well as to the airport (which I which I had known).,
The cruise was great, the weather was great! Except for the day we were to dock in Santorini. The winds were up and getting worse. Since we were tendering, the captain said the weather would continue to deteriorate during the day and we might not be able to get back to the ship, so they decided not to dock. So we sailed for 2 days instead of 1.
Ephesus was spectacular, so was Pompeii, Corfu was probably my favorite!
