Default Hotel in San Juan?

We arrive very late on February 8th and our cruise starts on February 11th. So we need three nights... anyone have any hotel recomendations or about what area we should be in?

We don't want to spend a fortune but we do want to have a nice time

The Sheraton Old San Juan is in a great location to be able to walk around Old San Juan... and close to the piers.

The Condado area is a bit further away, but the hotels there are near or on the beach area, and also close to many restaurants and clubs.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Coronado. I was a nice clean little hotel very close to the beach, places to eat and shopping. I'd go back there again.

We also stayed at the Holiday Inn Express. Very basic, but nice if you are just looking for a hotel room without the extravagant extra's of the larger hotels. (There's no casino's, restaurants on site, etc). A good steak restaurant is about 3 blocks away along with I think it was a Walgreens right next door in case you need any last minute items for your cruise.

As a FYI, when I was doing research on hotels for PR, I received an email from someone in PR who advised me that if you go for the bigger hotels that have casino's, you'll pay extra vs. staying at a hotel that doesn't have all that glitz or glamour. So it depends on what you are looking for.

It's about a 15 minute ride or so to the pier from the hotel. Cabs come by the hotel all the time, so you won't have any problems getting one. I have a few photo's of the hotel if you want me to send them. Just email me.

Have a fun cruise!!

Thanks for the replies...

I am relieved to say that we finally have a hotel booked!

We ended up with The Sheraton in Old San Juan for only $100 per night through Priceline. The hotel looks very nice and it has a fabulous location so we are very pleased.
