Budget in Port Canaveral

What budget location do you use for Port Canaveral. Do you use the Cape Canaveral one on Asternaut Boulevard? Also how do the shuttles work for transfer between the rental car agency and the cruise ship both pre and post cruise. Precruise could we drop our luggage and then go drop off the car? Thanks.

I'm in the market for something budget in the Cocoa Beach area as well, but also something close to the port, so I'm guessing everything is going to be pretty expensive and other things need to be taken into account as well, such as how we're actually going to get to port that day. The best I've found so far appears to be EconoLodge in cocoa. Does anyone have any info on this hotel?

If you want even more budget, the www.choicehotels.com family (of which EconoLodge is part) has some cheaper motels such as Rodeway, but they seem to be more out of the way than I would consider. Probably be better off staying in Orlando at that point.

I think gracenonna was referring to "Budget Rent a Car", not cheap hotel accomodations. As far as rental cars are concerned, use the location closet to the port. Budget will shuttle you to the ship as you drop off the car.
