Default Miami Hotels and Priceline

I would like to try to obtain a bargain on a hotel in downtown Miami on Priceline; however, I note that if your bid is accepted there is only a guarantee on a room which would accommodate two people. I'll be travelling with my wife and my daughter, so would need a room with a minimum of at least two double beds. If I submit a bid and the hotel will only give me a room with one king-size bed I'd be in a real bind! Has anyone had a problem in this kind of situation?

Try Hotwire...... you can get a room that sleeps up to 4 people. However, unlike Priceline, Hotwire gives you a set price (which is generally lower than the regular price thru the hotel). Once you commit to that price, they tell you which hotel you won.

I've bid on Priceline many times and once I was given the hotel name just called and confirmed/requested the room type I needed. I've never had a problem, but I guess it is a chance you take.

I have used priceline before and after winning my bid, I called the hotel and requested two double beds. I have never had a problem before.

As much as I love Miami (I used to live there), I would not be comfortable getting a random hotel downtown. There are some great hotels in good neighborhoods, but parts of downtown, like many big cities, are pretty rough. Keep in mind that Miami is not just a vacation city. It has all the pluses and minuses of any big US city.
