We stayed there several years ago. It was a nice hotel but nothing fancy. The employees were extremely nice even giving us coupons for a local pizza place! It was across the street from the beach and the Hilton Hawaiian Village Complex. Less than a block away, was a coffee shop (can't remember the name) that had decent meals at real reasonable prices. I would stay there again if I had to use up points like you have to do.
I just stumbled across this and realized I had never done a follow up - sorry. The hotel was fine. It is a bit dated in its decor but it was clean and well maintained. There was free internet in the lobby and free coffee.
The staff was extraordinarily helpful. They recomended a great place to get a quick bite on the first jet lagged night and even what drinks to have. We walked about 4 blocks down to a hamburger place that I've forgotten the name of - maybe paradise?, and they did have fabulous drinks. I think we got a volcano or something that was just wild.
