Default Boston Hotel

(I posted this in the "Embarkation" board, but didn't get a response. Then I saw this board. Sorry- I'm new.)

My husband and I will be cruising out of Boston next year. We're planning on flying in on Saturday and cruising on Sunday. I've narrowed my list of hotels down to four:
Embassy Suites Boston - at Logan Airport
Hampton Inn Boston-Logan Airport
Hampton Inn Boston/Cambridge, MA
Hampton Inn & Suites Boston Crosstown Center

I'm not asking for information about the hotels- I can look that up myself. I just really want to know if one of these is better than the rest for us. We've never been to Boston and don't know when we'll be able to come back. We won't have a car, and we'd like to do at least one or two 'touristy' type things. Any input would be great!

I suggest you map them out. I flew into Logan and its not walking distance to downtown so the hotels there might not be an option for you. A cab ride from the airport to downtown cost me $20.

Cambridge you catch a bus to get from or to downtown.

I don't know where the other one is. Boston is a wonderful city with so much history.. I hope you take the time to wander through it.

Embassy Suites Boston - at Logan Airport ~ Not near anything, but closer to the port

Hampton Inn Boston-Logan Airport ~ditto

Hampton Inn Boston/Cambridge, MA~ Cambridge is just too far away.

Hampton Inn & Suites Boston Crosstown Center
I would suggest this one.
Downtown Crossing is smack dab in the middle of the shopping district. The Freedom Trail is close by, as is Quincy Market [Fanueil Hall], great shopping and restaurants...Have a ball!

We stayed at the Embassy Suites and like Trip said, it is not near anything except rental car agencies. We were able to find a little grocery store to buy our Pepsi but nothing else. They will take you to the airport to catch the subway and pick you up when you return. Next time we plan to stay closer to Quincy Market-Fanueil Hall.

I have a daughter at Berklee College in Boston and suggest you do not stay at the Hampton Inn Crosstown. That area is not good for walking, no real shopping nearby. My daughter lives on Mass Ave but she never ventures that far down the street. There is a Hilton Back Bay that is a block from the prudential center and 2 blocks from great boutique shopping. There is also a Sheraton adjacent to Prudential Center. Both are much safer areas for exploring. Have fun. We love Boston.

I have to admit, my misreading the hotel area for the Hampton...I read it quickly as, Downtown Crossing, which is the shopping district in downtown Boston..I do aplogize..If you do a search, look for that area, or Fanueil Hall area, aka [Quincy Market]
