Default Hotel in Orlando vs. Pt. Canaveral

We are taking a RCCL cruise next Jan. out of Pt. Canaveral. Am looking for a reasonable hotel that also offers transfers from hotel to cruise pier.
Would it be better to transfer to Cocoa Beach and then stay overnite there
or stay in Orlando and transfer over the next morning?? Any recommendations as to transfer companies??

If you get in early the day before, go to the port. Having grown up in the Cocoa Beach area, I would rent a car from Budget, drive down and stay in the area. The drive is an easy hour away. We usually stay at the Hampton Inn on A1A but have stayed at the Radisson at the Port and Comfort Inn Suites. Budget's return in the closest to the port. Drive to the port and have dinner early at Grills and watch the other cruise ship leave. If you don't want to rent a car, we have used Cocoa Beach Shuttle to get to the hotel when we stayed at the Radisson. They offer a shuttle to the port. Just call a couple days early and put you name on the list before others arrive to get the time you want. If you stay the Hampton Inn, many use Art's Shuttle for about $5/pp.

If you are arriving late the day before and don't want to drive down, stay at the AmeriSuites closest to the airport, take their shuttle back to the airport in the morning and grab RCI's shuttle to the port. Enjoy planning and have a great cruise.

Thanks Teresa: I am a little confused - you said if we don't want to rent a car to use Cocoa Beach shuttle to the Pier. Do they operate from the Orlando airport to the Cocoa Beach hotels as well?? If we stay in Orlando
and catch the RCCL transfer from the airport to Pt. Canaveral - what is the
charge?? We are NOT getting our domestic air through RCCL.

Sherrie,
We got them thru the Orlando airport website. There are many others. The local shuttle services are for the Orlando area and can't go outside a specific perimeter just as the Cocoa Beach shuttle couldn't take you anywhere within the Orlando area. You can google them. If there is only 2 of you, I still recommend renting a car for flexiblility. I am not sure of RCI transfer charge but I would guess about $30/pp. I think they have someone at each terminal holding up signs. You have to wait till the bus is full first. You might want to check at the counter when you arrive so you will know the next morning.
