Default Tampa Hotels?

Hi all! This will be my first cruise(Legend Nov.2nd) and my husband and I are celebrating our honeymoon/firt year anniversary, but on a BUDGET. Can anyone recommend a decent hotel in a safe area and shuttle services? We were planning to fly in 1 day pre cruise and stay 2 nights post cruise. We really don't want to rent a car, so we would like to be situated in an area w/restaurants, shopping, entertainment, etc. I've been on hotels.com several times, but would rather have recommendations who know the Tampa area. Thanks for any info.!!!

the howard Johnson downtown will pick you up at the airport and take you to the cruise port.

I'm a travel agent and live in the Tampa area. I get a discount rate to the Hampton Inn & Suites for $99 a night. It's in the Ybor district, dinning, night life, shopping and entertainment and is only 1 mile from the Port of Tampa. This rate also includes transportation to and from the pier and buffet breakfast for two. A taxi to and from the airport should be no more than $25. Let me know what you think!

This is where we are booked next Friday night for our cruise on Saturday! It is $7 a night to park while we are gone and as you said, free shuttle to the port. What is the hotel like and what are some things to do or good places to eat around that area? We have 2 teenage girls that will be bored until we get on the ship!!!

In Ybor there is a Game Works, AMC movie theater, and plenty of shopping. If you're looking for something the whole family might like there's the aquarium right next to the port! I'd recommend Acropolis Greek Tavern. It's really laid back, fun for ALL ages and great food!

The hotels is nice, it's your basic Hampton Inn.

In November I cruised from Tampa and stayed there the day before. They offered transportation to the port the next day. There's also a shopping mall within a few minutes walk from the hotel too.

Default tampa hotels

I stayed at intercontinental; but the Embassy suites is next to it too. Both are good.
