Default question about miami hotels

I will be down in Miami October 4th and will fly in my husband and i have never been there and are staying a night before the cruise. We are wanting a reasonably priced hotel that is around the port and maybe has places nearby that we could walk to. Also if anyone has info as to how far it it from the airport to certain hotels and then hotel to port that would be helpful we have no way of knowing and are really nervous about it. We would preferably like to be by the port and maybe a hotel that has a free shutle to the port. Thanks for any help.

It is hard to find a reasonably priced hotel in Miami Beach so you might try Hotwire or Priceline. Most will have shuttles from the airport.

I'm a travel agent and have a Cruise and Stay rate with I believe the Hyatt in downtown. It's $129 a night and they provide transportation to the port the morning of. They will likely also offer shuttle pick up at the airport. I will double check in the morning for you if that is the hotel. Let me know if it sounds good. I've been thinking of staying there myself if I take a cruise in October! It's a pretty good rate for a Hyatt.

Bayside Marketplace is close, it's an outdoor plaza. They've got a Hard Rock Cafe right there, a chilis, hooters and a few others...

Every time I make it to Miami I've managed to stop by there, it's a great location, plenty of entertainment, food and shops . Theres also a great park right next door.

I don't believe they publicly advertise it though. Because I'm an agent and frequently cruise they sent me the contact and offer. I was out sick the past two days and will check tomorrow, sorry I didn't get back sooner to verify the hotel.

I called the Hyatt/downtown and was given a rate of $299, not $129. Confused. Any input. I don't see the $129 on the website.
