Default Good Hotel Pre Cruise PT Canavral

We are going on FOS in Sept 2009 and we are looking for a good Hotel Pre-cruise in Port Canaveral. Has anyone got any good suggestions? We wouldlove to hear from anyone. Just my wonderful husband and I are going for our 25th wedding anniversary. Thanks

Congrats, Deb.
We like the Radisson in Canaveral, but haven't been there in a couple of years.

Thanks for the info Marty. Do they offer a shuttle to the port? Also, how about breakfast?

Thanks Again,

Default Radisson hotel

I'm booked there in January. Go to their website and you'll find all kinds of info. Yes they have a shuttle (you have to make a reservation before arrival at the hotel) and my room comes with breakfast it's about $107 a night for that. I hear their shuttle will even take you to go shopping for stuff you don't want to drag on the plane. S~

We are looking at the Courtyard by Marriott in Melbourne for our cruise on the Carnival Dream later this year ... not far from the pier ... it's only $79 a night ... has a pool ... and is very close to Melbourne Sq for shopping and last minute things ... as well there are numerous restaurants around ... check it out on priceline.com

I would recommend staying closer to the port than Melbourne. Melbourne is about 25 miles south of the port and about 45 minutes driving time even though it seemed longer when I lived there. We have stayed at the Radisson and Comfort Inn but also we have stayed at the Hampton Inn on A1A just about 3 miles from the port. There is also the Country Inn & Suites close to the port. We only looked at it, did not stay there. If you want to use Priceline, try 4* Cocoa Beach/Port Canaveral Area and see what you would get.

Looking to stay at Residence Inn Cocoa Beach for a November cruise. Is there some walkable restaurants, liquor stores or convenience stores. Have to get some incidentals before the cruise.

Also, what about 1-way rental cars vs. getting a shuttle for transportation? Any suggestions for those that have done either one?

I'm not sure about walkable restaurants it depends on your definition of walkable. There are a couple of "acceptable" restaurants within walking distance. There are some nice restaurants at the port that would be an inexpensive cab ride. There are plenty of little convenience stores with liquor you can get to.

We have stayed at the hilton there once, I didn't realize they offered free parking! So, I guess you took a cab to the port? How much was the cab?
Thanks

I realize I am a little late on this post but in my recent sailing out of Port Canaveral, Country Inn and Suites was my hotel of choice. It was right around $100 bucks, free hot breakfast, and complimentary shuttle drop off and pick up from the port.

The hotel is right across from the cruise port and they will take you to local areas if you need to go. They worked just fine for us. I heard the Raddison was good too, I may try that next time.
