We will be flying into Rome for a cruise in May and are looking for someplace to stay in a village or small town or seaside that will be convenient to the port and have something of interest. We are two females in our early 60's. Any suggestions?
Is the port you are leaving from Civittechia(spelling may be wrong)? Which I am sure is. There is a hotel called Hotel Traiano.
We have stayed once before and are staying there again for our cruise in March 5, 2009. I think I payed 108.00 euros for hotel this year.
They will pick you up from airport (130.00 Euros, which can be split between you and who ever else is there going to Civittechia.)Private car or taxi will be 150.00 euro's or more.(2008 price) You can take a cab to Termini Station(? on how much, but station is only a couple blocks away.)
Train was 12 euros for my wife and I last year. Which is alot cheaper than cab.
Hotel is very clean with everything a hotel has in the states they have here. Free buffet breakfast (european style, (ham, cheeses, danishes, coffee, juice, crescent rolls etc.))
They also take you to the port for FREE. I would recommend this to anyone leaving out of that port. Very nice people run it.
It was remodeled not long ago. You can even see the ships from atop of their roof if you decide to go up there to look around.
Anyway there you have it, Hope you enjoy your cruise.
