Feb 6/2009 We stayed pre-cruise at the Fort Lauderdale Grande Hotel and Yacht Club ... it was excellent for $149 per night ... booked on Priceline.com ... we had a room overlooking the pool, bar, and marina ... lovely room ... clean and spacious ... the hotel let us stay in the room till 12 noon ... and bonus we walked to the Ruby Princess ... yes walked! ... it's that close to the hotel ... under the 17th street bridge and through the side gate (showing our boarding pass and id to guard) and within minutes we were in line and boarding 20 mins later ... the only downside to this hotel is that there is one (pricey expensive restaurant) with so, so food and another bar poolside with an outdoor cafe (reasonable - sandwiches and such) ... so for food you will probably have to go outside of the hotel ... there is a drugstore not far for room snacks, pop (mix), oj, and it has a small grocery section for muffins and other things for a continental breakfast in your room which has a fridge ... check it out you will be pleased ... Bonus there is a water taxi right at the hotel for $13 for a hop on / off all day service to many areas of Fort Lauderdale and $35 to South Beach return ... oh and the Hyatt Pier 66 also has restaurants across the bridge ... Booked this hotel again for Sept for a cruise on the Carnival Freedom ... room was $109 on priceline.com ...
