Many of us are booked at the Queen Mary which is literally next to the pier.

On the opposite side of the water from the dock in downtown Long Beach, you have all the major hotels .. Hilton, Hyatt, etc. U can go to their websites to find out if they offer free shuttle service.

We stayed at the Hilton long beach and got seven days parking and shuttle to the dock. See if you can get a room above the seventh floor. These are quiet floors. I have heard the Queen Mary has issues with being clean and comfortable. I think it has to do with the age of the ship.

The hotel dept. of the Queen Mary recently underwent a mulit-million dollar refurbishment. Give yourself a treat and book a original first-class cabin on the Queen Mary. There is nothing else quite like it anywhere in the world.
And when it comes time to board your Carnival cruise, you can easily and quickly roll your suitcases over to the luggage-drop area for your cruise.
You can check hotels.com for a break on the Queen Mary rates.
It's unique, it's gorgeous, it's fun, it's a treat, it's a departure from the standard, usual hotel experience.

Hi,
Is the Queen Mary far from the Princess Cruise dock and would it be a good location to stay at for two days prior to our Golden Princess cruise to be a tourist in Los Angeles.
Normally we have flown in for the same day but as the taxi fare from the airport is $60 - $70 to San Pedro , was trying to get us to a short distance.
Your suggestion on the first class cabin sounds great, how is the dining in the area and on the ship like.
Cheers

Default repharse my question

My question to you experienced US travellers...
We will be cruising out of LA in May for a reposition to Vancouver, Canada
Have decided this time to arrive in LA 2 days prior as in the afternoon of the 1st day, 2nd day, then on ship 3rd day around 1pm per Princess.

In looking at taxi fares and distance to San Pedro was wondering if staying at the Queen Mary for the 2 days and taking the Super Shuttlefrom LAX Airport then taxi to San Pedro from QM makes sense in terms of local access. We want to see a bit of LA but are not into all day at the movie Studio or Rodeo Drive , thought seeing some of the sites around the QM and the QM itself would be fine.
Any thoughts.. please

Thanks

A great option if looking for a really nice hotel pre or post cruise would be priceline or hotwire. You can stay at some really nice hotels for a fraction of the rack rate price. I always use them and many other cruisers do to. Priceline offers the best discounts due to the fact that you name your own price. I have used both for years and use my extra savings for excursions or items I may purchase on ship.

Give it a try and I'm sure you'll be hooked like me. Feel free to read the following link for more info on Priceline and Hotwire deals.

Default Long Beach Hilton

A review I saw which was a year old mentioned staying at the Long Beach Hilton and giving a "Carnival Code" which entitled them to a very good rate ($95/night) last year and allowed them to park their car at the hotel for up to 7 days at no extra charge and also provided shuttle service to the cruise terminal.
Does anyone have any more information as to whether or not this program still exists at the Hilton Long Beach, and, if so, how to access it?

Are you sure about that?
Web site still taking reservations and looks like some good events coming up.

We thought the QM was a great place to stay if your sailing out on Carnival. Just walk over to the pier. Very simple.
