Seeking info on hotels/ motels near P.O.M.

We don't cruise until May 2012, but I'd like to start collecting hotel info. ahead of time, so as to make an informed decision on where to stay. Always in the past, we've flown into Miami the morning of our cruise, and as many of you know, that can be a little stressful.This time, we're flying into Miami the day before our cruise. I know that most hotels now only have accomodations for non-smokers. However, I am a smoker. So, are there any hotels/motels near the P.O.M. that do allow smoking? How far in advance do you recommend making a reservation? Also, are there any stores nearby where we could purchase a 12-pack of Pepsi to take onboard with us? Do most hotels provide shuttle service to the Port, or would we have to call for a taxi? Thanks in advance for any helpful information you can provide.
