OK, ol' wize one!

If I book a private shuttle, do you think I could make an 11:45 flight out of FLL? We need to allow a little extra time to get through security, with our "ma-chines!" We did the self-assist on the Splendor, so I imagine we could do so again, if we had to. Long Beach was even worse than Galveston, regarding embarkation and debarkation. I always thought Galveston was the worst!

Thanks for the quick answers! So even though I have to get to Ft. Lauderdale, I should be able to make it? I'm not VIP.

The flight I'm looking at is on sale until Thursday, so I want to grab it right away if it will really work for me.

Hey, Darlene, maybe we can share a private shuttle to FLL!

I think you both could. I just walked out and joined a group that had already booked the private shuttle. It was about $10. It may be more to FLL. I was solo on that one so I didn't bother to pre-book anything. They are white vans with no markings, but come every few minutes.

Scurvy has a lot more experience than I in Miami.

Ok, another question.....does anybody know if they still have the Luggage Express program, where you pay them $20 and they take your bags right from the ship to the airport for you and check you in for your flight? Or do they only do that for later flights?

I searched around a bit and couldn't find much info about it.

So does this mean that you decided that you can make this one? I'm glad that you changed your mind and decided to go! :-D

While 11:45/12:00 out of FLL is possible on a good day it is not something I would book for myself. You never know how things will go at debark. I don't need that stress. My choice would be later.

Well, I'm pretty much back to square one. I thought I read that you could take a roundtrip Reward and convert it to a "Freedom" Reward one way. The Freedom Rewards you can use on pretty much any flight. But I read it wrong.....you can convert 2 regular roundtrip Rewards to one roundtrip Freedom Reward.

Short story is there are no seats for the regular Rewards, so I can't use it at all. I'm back to not being willing to pay all that money to fly over there. I guess I'll wait to see what comes up between now and final payment. It just seems that nothing is working out for this trip so far......and I usually listen to "big hints from upstairs" like that.

On a happy note, my son from Portland will be in town later tonight for the weekend! He's in a wedding, so I probably won't see much of him, but a little is better than none!

I know you like SW but don't overlook AirTran. If you can connect with them they have some really good sales to FLL. They have a different sale about every 3 weeks so if a connection is possible keep checking.

We are trying to get the best bang for our buck. We have now gone from balcony to inside. We wanted to check to see if we could use our airline rewards for some flights but that is not working out too good. Best flights we can find are around 450 each from Las Vegas, will look into the Ft Lauderdale route. We will know later today what we will do but we want to go so we will probably make it happen.

They don't fly out of anywhere close to me. I have used sidestep.com to see what the rates look like on the other airlines. They're all high.

I haven't even started looking at air yet. I usually wait until I see a sale. I know coming from west coast is harder. My usual problem is that I live so far away from any airport.

I'm looking forward to Grand Turk on this one--never been there!

BTW--I did my Carnival Paradise review last night if anyone wants to see it.

So far I have been lucky with southwest.
There are nonstop flights on Saturday and Sunday from NOLA to Ft Lauderdale that times work perfectly. I haven't booked anything yet, I'm waiting to decide if I want to fly in on Saturday & stay at HI (already reserved) or fly in on the morning of the cruise. That flight arrives in Ft L at 12"35 p.m. still plenty of time to make it to the ship on time, especially with Carnival transfers.

Decisions Decisions Decisions

Gotta agree here. I hate rushing to be somewhere. After Splendor we had about 6 hrs to kill but I would do that again rather than book too early and miss the flight.

Well y'all are having better luck than me. I have to drive to Dallas or Austin to get Southwest. That was going to be about $800. I have a 24 hr hold on an American out of Waco but it is EXPENSIVE. I hope I'm not letting y'all panic me into booking earlier than usual--. I'll probably do it as the connections are perfect.

I could drive to Houston and park at your house if I could get the $209. Is that round trip?

Check me for these dates: 19 or 20 Feb to 6 March. Home airport is Waco (ACT) Killeen is close (GRK) Could do DFW.

I see several SAC to MIA for $448. AA and Continental.
That's a lot less than Waco to MIA. Doesn't seen right.

No way I'm paying anywhere near that much for airfare.

If you are flying solo it is easier to catch a sale/bargain rate--just find one!

Looks like I'm out a lot more than I expected on this one.

Way too early for me to worry about airfare.
It might be months before I book. Last time AirTran had a super sale I booked ATL-FLL for the Epic.
Two persons round trip $298.80 total.
That time was lucky. This time might not be that cheap.

Well Greg, did you book??

You're right that it's early to be worrying about airfare, Scurvy. But it's one of the deciding factors in whether I go on this one or not. Final payment time will be here before I know it, and I have to make a decision by then. That $298 total for two was a great deal you found!

TC, that's pretty cool that you could fly in that day and save the hotel $$. If I leave here at 6 am, I don't get there until at least 4 or 5 pm. At least that's what I'm seeing so far......nothing non-stop that I've found.

Well keeping my fingers and toes crossed that I dont have any problems getting this time off- I plan on going in at least a day early---with the time change and fewer flights -- and less stress on me--- its worth the few dollars for a hotel room--even if I change hotels-----staying at one - one night and then another for the next----The Holiday Inn is a great location--and I think a few have already booked with a promo code ?

Decisons decisions-----but at least we have time----

cheers
April
and no I havent even looked at airfare----I'm worth it---

I booked a flight and I hope you guys do better than I did. I am going two days early. I have not been to Miami before. All or Caribbean trips were out of Ft. Lauderdale. Any recommendation for site seeing? I hope we have a get together on evening of the 26th. Time to work out the details for that one. Take care, Mike

SAC is still running around $400. It seems there are very few nonstops out of SAC. Need to consider SFO. Maybe spend the night in San Fran and fly out in the morning to save the drive and fly in one day.

Yes, Myrna and I are offically in. We have been seeing 450 dollar fares from Las Vegas. We thought about going early or staying awhile but certainly do not want to spend it in Miami. Thought we might rent a car and drive down to Key West for a few nights but its a long drive so might not do that. But we are looking forward to the cruise.

Anyone, How do I add the two meager cruises we have to the bottom of my postings?
