Sayvan December 19th, 2008 12:01 PM

We will be going ... just booked this week.... we were on the Liberty last spring and loved it... can't wait!

TommyB December 28th, 2008 07:03 PM

sayvan Who is going with you ? My husband and I are going for my 40th birthday all by ourselves and would love to meet some people to have a great time with.

Sayvan December 28th, 2008 08:00 PM

My wife and I will be going.... Is this your first cruise or just the first without the kids?... We usually take a couple a year, some with the kids and others without. Sailed on the Liberty last spring and we loved it. Had a great dinner table and met some good people. Where ya from Tommyb?

TommyB December 30th, 2008 02:52 AM

THIS IS OUR 5TH CRUISE IN THE LAST FOUR YEARS BUT THIS WILL BE OUR FIRST WITHOUT THE KIDS. WE ARE FROM EAST GREENBUSH NY (NEAR ALBANY NY) I AM TURNING 40 ON JANUARY 9 . MY HUSBAND IS 42 . WE HAVE THE LATE DINNER SEATING 8:15 PM . WE PICKED A LARGE TABLE SO WE COULD TRY AND MEET SOME PEOPLE. A LITTLE NERVOUS GOING ON A CRUISE JUST THE HUSBAND AND MYSELF,BUT EXCITED AT THE SAME TIME HAVE ALWAYS GONE WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS . WHERE ARE YOU GUYS FROM AND WOULD LOVE TO MEET FOR A DRINK OR A SHOW .WE HAVE BEEN ON THE GLORY TWICE , THE FREEDOM AND THE MIRACLE. LOVES THEM ALL . CANT WAIT TO HEAR FROM THE TWO OF YOU THANKS JODY

Sayvan December 30th, 2008 08:52 AM

This will be our second cruise on Carnival. Holland America has been the other cruise line of choice. We have been to the Caribbean as well over 17 countries in Europe while cruising.

We are both 44 and have also booked the late dinner seating. We prefer that as it allows time to do so many other things. We are from Ontario, Canada and will be flying out of Toronto. Lets hope the weather is co-operative. Flying out the same day, but if all falls into place as it should, we will be in Miami by 10:30 am.

So why are you a little nervous on the cruise with just your husband? We love to travel without the kids (we have 5 in total)! Well worth the break! We love to meet new people and as I said below have been lucky with most of dinner table acquaintances and have always hit it off OK.

So have you planned your excursions yet? We are still trying to decide.

Look forward to hearing back, it appears we are the only ones going on this cruise from the responses on here.

TommyB December 31st, 2008 08:22 PM

We booked the beachadventure w/ Dunns river falls for $50.00 with ochoriostours.com, and tomorrow I think we are gonna book the Buccaneer stingray city snorkeling tour with GrandCaymenexcursion.com . We did this in April of this year and for $39.00 it was on of the best things we ever did. We are just gonna go to the beach all day in Cozumel and probably rent a jet ski and banana boat. Do the two of you like the shows or the casino or bingos? Are you doing any of the formal nights? Cant wait to here from the two of you again. Our email is TbANAHEIMFAN@YAHOO.COM. WE ARE FLYING IN THE DAY BEFORE AND SPENDING THE NIGHT IN FORT LAUDERDALE AND TAKING THE SHUTTLE TO AND FROM THE PORT WITH CARNIVAL .

Well we have yet to decide on which excursions we will be doing but most likely will decide within the next few days. Dunn's River is a must and the question becomes what else to include but we are leaning towards the falls and all inclusive resort I think. Not sure about the other ports. We want to do some snorkeling somewhere and in Cozumel we are there until 10 pm so a few excursions may be in order.

We love the casino (never have any luck tho) and always try and make the shows after dinner. Karaoke is alot of fun as well. The piano Bar seemed to be a spot last time so we want to try to make it in there as well after the shows....so will you be knowing anyone else on cruise?

We have always enjoyed the formal nights and I am sure we will again.

TommyB January 2nd, 2009 07:19 AM

Hello no we will not know anyone thats why we are a little nevous. We are still looking forward to having a good time . 2 weeks from today we will be on our way to sunny Florida yeah (it is only 2 degrees today) cant wait to hear from you again Jody

Sayvan January 2nd, 2009 01:20 PM

We often travel by ourselves and its very easy meeting new people. In some ways I actually like the travel by ourselves rather than with a group of people because then you not obligated to do as the group wishes but rather your own thing when you want to.

As I look out the window it's snowing yet again so I am counting the 15 days by the second!

TommyB January 3rd, 2009 05:55 PM

It's snowing here too and about 10 degrees . We leave in 13 days and counting. We are booked in room 6409. We just booked a inside room this time. We have never stayed in a inside room , we have had 3 balcony and 1 ocean view. We are also going to our first all inclusive in March (Cancun), and to Myrtle Beach in July so we needed to save money ,plus we dont plan on spending much time in the room. This will also be our first time with late seating . We wanted to be alble to take our time this time around without the kids. Talk to yas soon Jody

Sayvan January 4th, 2009 09:55 AM

Well you sure have a few trips planned over the next year. I actually head to Myrtle Beach every November with a bunch of friends for golf. I used to own a condo down there as well. Great place in the summer.

I have to admit that almost all of our trips will be on cruises. I just love the fact that each day your somewhere different.

We seem to be having a tough time deciding what excursions we will take this time round. At this point we are leaning towards some snorkeling in Cozumel although the Mayan ruins are still a possibility. We are there a long time so perhaps more than one thing. We may lean towards an Island tour of the Cayman's so we can see as much as possible.

In Jamaica we will be doing the Dunn's River for sure and I am leaning to the combo with one of the beach clubs as well. Not sure whether to do the mahogany Beach club or the Bamboo beach club. Both look good from what I can see.

I should probably try and get something booked today!

We have booked a balcony room on the Veranda level. Can't think of the room number right now. I agree by the way, not much time is spent in the room anyway so what does it really matter on the type of room. Just the fact we are cruising is good enough. So where do you guys like to hang out when on the ship?

TommyB January 4th, 2009 02:43 PM

I love to relax by the pool and get some sun . Tommy loves to do all the trivia and game shows and the putting contest. We enjoy the shows and the casino, and the karaoke bar is a lot of fun . We also enjoy the deck parties and the comedy shows. We do a little of everything. We did book the Buccaneer stingray and snorkel tour for $39.00 . It was one of the best things we ever did so we wanted to do it again this time around. We can not wait to have a vacation just the two of us and hopefully we will have a wonderful time.

Sayvan January 4th, 2009 03:49 PM

On the sea days you will definitely find us somewhere on deck. Towards the end of the day we most likely head for the casino or inside for a drink and relax inside a bit while getting ready for dinner. Before dinner, I usually like to head for the sushi bar and have a drink as well. We will try and meet up with people at our table for a pre-dinner drink if possible as well or anyone else we happen to meet and get to know.

Well I booked the excursions today and just decided to do them through Carnival. We will be doing the jeep and snorkel adventure in Cozumel then the ultimate island tour in Grand Cayman and the Dunn River Falls with the Bamboo beach club in Jamaica. Is it time to go yet?

I am sure you will have a great time... it's a cruise how can you not! :-P

Hi bmatrix... you may want to look for or start a different thread as this one is for the sailing on Jan 17/08 and yours is for February. Enjoy your cruise! Its a great ship!

TommyB January 6th, 2009 09:16 PM

Just had a friend book today one room left (a balcony # 1030) this will be a first cruise for the two of them . My husband has not met them but, we should all have a good time anyways. They also asked for the late dinning and they said they think that they will be able to dine with us. They also booked the same two excursions as we did. talk to ya soon

Sayvan January 7th, 2009 10:33 AM

Wow... thats great.. one room left ...looks like we have a full cruise... should be a blast and I cant wait ... almost in single digit days! They have picked a nice ship to experience a first cruise. What about the price....just curious if they got a good deal this close to the sail date?

So I guess now that you know some folks that relieves some of your concern about traveling on your own. I am so looking forward to the time away..... Wish it was now! It's snowing here again today!

Well perhaps we will meet up once we set sail!

talk with you soon.

Steve

TommyB January 7th, 2009 08:49 PM

They got a great deal. I think 1800.00 for everything including tips and transfers. Our first cruise we were in room 1031 and we were reallyt hooked. we do need to meet up for a drink or a show. Like I said we are in room 6409 and they are in room 1030.

wow does that include flights as well? We are making our own way to and from the cruise although we have a late flight when we return so we may book the everglades or something when we return. Probably decide that at the last minute.

So if we want to have a meet and greet once onboard where and how shall we do this? Let me know your thoughts and we can take it from there

This time next week we will be sailing and wearing our shorts! Woo Hoo
!

TommyB January 11th, 2009 05:33 PM

We can meet at the casino bar in the middle of the ship at a specific time on Saturday night.and take it from there. Sounds good let us know what time and we will be there with a drink in our hand to have a great time. Tommy is trying on his suit and packing as I am typing. Jody and Tommy

Sayvan January 11th, 2009 07:56 PM

Ok... sounds like a plan.. question becomes the time?.... We have the late dinner seating and usually catch the show right after that. Our tradition is to hit the casino right after the show any way. Does that sound like a plan... then of course comes the question of how do we know who is who...lol.... Hey who knows maybe we all end up at the same table for dinner anyway!

Bought some new snorkel equipment today so we are so ready to be on the way... ya think its to early to head to the Airport yet?

Steve And Vanda

TommyB January 13th, 2009 03:53 PM

Sounds like a plan. Tommy will be the 6 ft guy with a military cut and very short gote'. He will wait til 15 minutes after the show and yell out STEVE & VANDA, will that work??? LOL

TommyB January 13th, 2009 03:54 PM

Tommy will have some form of beer bottle in his left hand and I will have a fuzzy navel in mine. see u there!

TommyB January 15th, 2009 03:57 PM
