Hi ferrangi, DH and I will be sailing with you and your sister. We booked a catagory 6C stateroom. DH is 56 and I'm 43. We're so excited about the Splendor and looking forward to a week of fun and relaxation cruising on her. This will be our first cruise to the Mexican Riviera.

Oh boy, this is our 3rd cruise and only a first to meet someone on board.
Do you two like to gamble, drink do shows, swim or just sit around and relax?
I'm excited do you think we could meet you on board sometime? I just turned 45, my sis will be 44 by then.
Looking forward to meeting you.
ferrangi, yes, it would be nice to meet you too. We hardly gamble because the though of losing is depressing. But we love going to the shows, sitting around and relax with a drink or two or three, eating icecream, taking a dip in the pool, going on tour excursions, shopping in the ship and at port, wondering around in the ship, eating some more icecream, and etc. This will be my tenth and DH's fourth with CCL (all E. and W. Caribbean itineraries). Have you cruised the Mexican Riviera itinerary before?

We have done the 4 day encinada/catalina cruise and then yes last year we did the Mexican riviera cruse...
Check out our pics in the Photo Gallery. Just do a search for "Carnival Pride 2009" you will also see part 1 and part 2. Enjoy!!
Hi Ferrangi, thank you for sharing the pictures. Very nice and looked like you ladies had a fabulous time. Can't hardly wait 'til Sept. 6th.
Anytime, and yes we had a wonderful time...
I'm an aggressive extravert anyway... but get me on a ship full of strangers, there is no tellin' what I might do...
Actually, the only time I really extraverted was when my sis came back from the laundry room and told me someone took our laundry hamper...
I marched right off without getting any details only to find 2 big dudes in the laundry room....
Well.... after confronting them, one of them insisted that the hamper belonged to his sister, and so I request nicely (of course) that he confirm that with his sister.... so I followed him to their room (what was I thinking?) and a few minutes later I'm walking through our cabin door holding our laundry in our hamper....
Hey Ferrangi, you did the right thing. I would have done the same thing too. Glad you got your laundry hamper back.
I'm somewhat shy and quiet but on a cruise ship I feel quite compfortable striking up a conversation with just about anybody.
I cruised solo twice before but never felt alone or lonely because most of the people on the ship were the happiest, nicest, friendliest, and most helpful & caring group of individuals. They made me feel like I was among family and friends.
Anyhow, the TA just told me that my DH and I received a rate reduction (Early Saver package) on our cruise because there was a 4th of July Sales. Yahooooo, so excited and happy!

Just wondering if you save a substantial amount. As soon as I saw the 4th of July Sale, I also thought I would at least be getting some onboard credit. I also booked early saver, and when I called TA they said the price actually was 14.00 higher than I originally paid. Hope they calculated correctly.
Okay, now I have to call my TA... we dd the early saver too....
by the way... what 4th of july sale and how long does it last??
I'm emailing my TA right now.. and I'll call her tomorrow....
The thing is... I can't tell if our rate went down if they have no more cabins in my catagory available....
I checked the CCL website on Monday morning (July 6th) and saw the 4th of July Sales and noticed that the Fun Saver rate was actually lower than the Early Saver rate from March (when I booked the cruise). I called the TA that afternoon and she got us the credit. The next morning the 4th of July was gone.
I'm not sure if the amount was $180 pp or for both. I should be receiving something through the mail from my TA soon and I will let you know the actual credit.
I'm wondering if the sales only applied to catagory 6C and lower?
Anyhow, did you find out anything from your TA? I wish you all the best!
Same Here. It's totally alright that I didnt get an additional discount. I guess I received a really good price with early saver, even though the price was only $14.00 more than during the 4th of July sale which was just a few days ago. I had booked about 3 weeks before the swine flu broke out in March sometime. My friends took the last Splendor cruise to Canada, Washington and Oregon in June. They had wished they were going to the Mexican Riveria which is what they originally booked. It was cold up North and not drinking weather at all. Saved alot on liquor bill. but had fun none the less. She said the boat was very very nice. Cant wait for my cruise in Sept 09
Ferrangi and funmaker, sorry to hear that you guys did not get the additional discount. Mine was $180 for DH and I instead of each person. Anyhow, additional discount or not we're all very blessed to be cruising! Only 46 days to go ...

Are you nuts? Cold weather is perfect for drinking....
Of course you are talking to someone who always has a fan on even in winter... but especially while drinking I get really hot.... I could so stand out on my balcony looking out at the ice bergs holding my martini/bud light or whatever...
(oops Ice bergs I was thinking alaska )

I totally agree with you! I would find a way to drink if its cold outside, even if I have to order a mexican coffee. Wait a minute we are going to mexico, I will have to at least try one mexican coffee. lol
Where and when shall we meet? DH and I will be driving from Redlands to the Port of Long Beach. We hope to get there around 11am - 11:30am. I think if everything's ok with the previous cruise we would be able to board the ship as early as 11:30 for our cruise.
ferrangi and marinemom25, DH and I booked cabin #2281. We have the early dining time. Looks like we might be dining in the Black Pearl Dinining Room (midship) which is closer to us than the Golden Pearl. Monday and Tuesday are both sea days. Should we meet during one of those days or perhaps on the first day (Sunday)? DH brought in the luggages lastnight. Tonight I will make a list of what to pack for the cruise. What about you ladies? Are you already half way packed or do you do the packing at the last minute?

Okay first... how do you know which dining room you will be assigned to?
Second, I was thinkng we also have the early dining time, I was thinking about maybe meeting at the captains party for coctails. I think that's on Monday night, My sis and I are staying in 1112 spa deck.
Third, we usually don't pack too early, but we already have our clothes picked out. This time last year I had my ship map, docs, directions, iteneraries, confirmations, etc already printed, but this year we have had some unexpected issues, so we are running a little behind.
But imagine how fast these next two weeks are going to fly by.
Ferrangi, I like your idea of meeting at the captian's party for cocktails. I just assumed that DH and I will be assigned to the Black Pearl Dining Room because in the past we were usually assigned to the restuarant that was closest to our stateroom. For example (in many cases), if your cabin is located anywhere from the front of the ship to the middle of the ship, chances are you will be dining in the midship restaurant. But if your stateroom is from midship to the back of the ship then you'll probably end up dining in the aft restaurant. Our cabin is on deck 2 (Main Deck) right behind the first set of elavators on the starboard side of the ship. Above us is the Guest Services Station, the Splendor Lobby, the Art Room, and then the Black Pearl Dining Room. I printed our cruise documents yesterday and it indicated that we have early dining as requested (for now). Like you, DH and I already have our clothes picked out but not in the suitcases yet. He's gathering all the little things like extension cords, flashlight, nightlight, alarm clock, and etc. for the carry-on bag. I'm making sure that the clothes, shoes, and etc. are clean/presentable and ready for the luggages. Oh Lord, I just remembered, I haven't made arrangement with my niece to take care of the furbabies. Gotta go make a phone call ...
Anyway, I don't believe either of the two ships we've been on, had more than one dining room, (other than the supper club).
Maybe that's why I was confused.
My sister and I have moved since our last cruise and we are still trying to locate our gadget bag.... highlghter, bungee cord, ext cord, etc. it's driving us nuts, tonight we search again, pray for us to find it.
Hey It's not that big a deal we could just create a new one, but this one had our fun glasses in it, like the ones you see in our pics....
You're welcome. I'm so glad you found the gadget bag. To me those glasses said the person behind it is on vacation, happy, having fun, and having a great time. I love it!

That's nothing we have 4 different pairs.... my sis and switch off...
Oh yeah, I was suggesting to Marinemom, that maybe we could meet on deck 3 at the exursion desk. That's just outside the main showroom. what do you think? Then we could all go in and find a place to sit together.
Unless you have another idea....
OOoh, tomorrow I'll be... correction.......... we'll all be in the single digits.
Woohoo, single digits! I'm so excited!
Yes, I'm with you on the where to meet. Okay, it's Monday night on deck 3 by the excursion desk before the Captian's Cocktail Party. Since I know your cabin number, I'll be able to call if I had any questions.
Okay Bill&Dana,
Your cabin is located almost exactly directly across from our cabin, if we were on the same deck....
In other words, All we have to do is, get on the elevator and go to each others decks and there's our room. Both of us are located just outside the elevators....
Yes, you're right about the locations of our cabins. Is this your first time booking a on a spa deck? You'll have to tell us all about the wonderful things of having a spa deck cabin.[/quote]
