5 days to Progreso & Cozumel, Mexico on 5/31/10. 50-somethings taking our first cruise with 18 yr old son and friend, so they will entertain themselves. We're hoping there will be open air places to relax, as smoky lounges and Vegas-style shows aren't our style
We'd like to find shore excursions with vendors in port rather than through the cruise lines. Any advice would be appreciated!
Let me know if you have suggestions, or if you're going our way. Maybe we'll find you!

Me and my family are taking the same cruise in June. I have researched a few companys for shore excurisons. For Progresso i would use AUTOPREGRESO. I have not found any bad reviews on them and they have been extremely helpful and have answered all my questions. as for Cozumel i have been looking into a place called cozumelcruiseexcursions.com. This will be my second carnival cruise so if u have any questions please fell free to ask away! HAPPY SAILING
I'm looking at cozumelcruiseexcursions.com as well, leaning toward Nachi Cocom and the glass bottom boat snorkeling. Have you been there? Would it be worth the $49 if we're taking off for two hours to snorkel?
As for autoprogreso i just emailed them but they told me to look 4 them of ship......in cozumel i went on the carnival inspiration and booked the excursion thru them...we did the jeeps ....so to answer your question no i did not but im sure its worth it ...i havent found an excursion i thought was over priced ...i do know however that autoprogreso is way cheaper than carnival ....we are going to the ruins carnival has it at $55 for kids and adults and autoprogreso has it as 29 adults and $19 for kids under 10 because we are traveling with 15 people we are going to book it thru autoprogrso saving = $410 p.s if any of you drink soda you might want to consider the fountain card it like $30 but can soda's are $2 ...in my family it well worth the 30
