Default Norwegian Epic Solo Traveler 3.16.13

Hey All,

I've booked into one of the new Studios on the 3/16 Epic departure and was wondering who might be along for the ride! Also, if you've been in the solo Studios, would love to hear what you thought of them! Cheers!

Should be a good time! Excited to check out the ship, lounge, and all it had to offer. Are you planning on booking your on-board entertainment ahead of time? I was hoping to get a feel for the ship first, but reviews seem to suggest otherwise.

Hi,

I'm joining you on this cruise. Haven't booked a thing and looks like I may not until I get onboard. Like you said, it could be a mistake but would rather gather a few people and go from there.

I've booked the 10p Blue Man Group on 3/17 (figure I can hit the bars after to celebrate St. Paddy's) and The Legends show the Thursday we're at sea.
The other shows and the restaurants I figure can wait, though I may book the Cirque dinner, too!

I have heard that nightlife on the Epic doesn't start till late. Oh yes St.Paddy's day I must try to remember to pack something green.

There's only 9 more studios left as of this morning. It looks like it'll be close to or fully booked!

Can't wait to find out what the studios are like and how the lounge is. I hear there's a solo director that does a lot of solo events. Should be interesting also hear they do sign ups for the specialty restaurants and shore excursions.

I'm coming from Delray Beach, FL and I'm 40. I can't wait either. It was in the mid 70's today weather report says in the 80's next week so should be beautiful by time you get here.

49 from stormy cold Philadelphia suburbs. Ahh, packing. I've been making some mental notes and laying clothes out from summer stock. Other than some new shorts and odds and ends, I should be ok.

Are you flying Southwest by any chance? Barring any delay, I should be setting down in Ft Laud around 9:15am. Should allow plenty of time to get to the port and take it all in.

I'm actually flying Jet Blue into FLL and arrive shortly after you, Dave, at 9:30. Considering we are getting more snow here over the next few days, I'm hoping that darn groundhog keeps the runway clear next weekend!

I know a lot of people fly in the day before and stay over. I took a chance with a real early flight. The first flight I booked didn't get to FL until around 12:00pm...that was pushing it. Unless there is some freak snow storm Saturday morning, we should be ok.

Any idea how you're getting to the port from airport? I researched a little and a service called SAS came up. $15/pp each way.

FYI,
I just took a look at the Blue Man options. The only shows available are days 1 (7:00 or 10:00), 3 (10:00 only) and 6 (10:00 only). I booked day 3 because that's one show I don't want to miss. You might want to pick a day and time now.

I was planning on using the SAS, as it seems to be the most reasonable and reliable. I have already booked 4 of the bigger shows, including BMG which I'm seeing on night two.

Also thinking about heading over to St. John from St. Thomas as I've been to St. Thomas twice already.

One week to go!!!

I really can't wait. I still have only booked the blue man group. The rest if I miss out I won't really care. As too what I will do on each island I really have no idea yet. I'm driving my car right to the port and parking there.

I take it any activites off the ship can be booked from the ship? I hope that's the case or I'll be idle a lot of this trip.

We also need the temps to tick up. Forecast for the various ports for this Sat/Sun are mid to high 70s.

There is an epic app you can get for smartphones or tablets. It's free and free to use on the ship. You can book tours, entertainment, specialty restaurants and message other passengers.

Dave,

I just got the e-mail with the Epic app. I've been advised to TURN OFF the mobile Network while on the cruise or the raoming ffes will be crazy.

Since I'm landing in FLL at 9:30a, I'm going to book myself on the 11am SAS shuttle to the Port if you're interested in doing the same.

Cheers,
Shuli

Interesting. So you switch your phone over to wifi and turn off the carrier service...I think.

Funny you mention SAS. I just filled out the reservation form tonight and am waiting for a response. I'll put it down for 11am also. Thanks for the offer.

Well, we may be the only three people on this cruise to actually post in this forum site. I look forward to meeting.

You can turn off data roaming and also cellular data under settings of most phones so all data is wifi only. The 3 of us should meet up for a drink or something. I've been told when you get on the ship for the 1st time to avoid the buffet because will be packed but head to Taste for a quieter sit down lunch. I think this is my plan. I went on NCL Sky last year and remember the buffet being overly packed. I'm planning to be to the port by noon. I figure once I'm on the ship my vacation has started and want to start my vacation NOW!

Sounds like a plan to me... should we try to meet up at Taste or some other location? If we take the 11am shuttle we should be to port at about the same time.

BTW, my name is Shuli (shoolee)

Hi I'm Peter. Yes I think we should all be on board around the same time. Just unsure how long it will take to get on board. Maybe best to meet at a bar somewhere near Taste and then head to Taste. Might be too hard to find inside Taste plus it could be a little between each gets there. What do you think?
