Yeaaaa! Parrot Mom, we are also on the TA! We will be meeting up with another couple, in Barcelona, and they will be sailing with us.
We are arriving in Barcelona on Friday, 11/28. I'm still not sure about a hotel. Where are you staying?
As far as most cruisers are concerned we use the www.hotelcontinental.com/ (outside room only) right at the top of La Rambla..not fancy, but clean, refreshments and buffet all day long.. It looks like it's been decorated by your great, great, grandmother..lol, but charming.. This will be our third visit there.. and if you need a guide/driver and with four of you it will be worthwhile... there is Aurielo and Michael.. fabulous.. they pick us up at the airport, drive us to the hotel and whatever we want and then back to the ship..We arrive on the 27th too..Aer Lingus.. If you want more info about Aurielo write me.. parrotmom@verizon.net.. The location is fabulous.. a block or two from the Market, the historical area.. but the smart thing is for the four of you to get a driver.. you see more in one day than most lpeople see in several and stop where and when you want
I will also be on the TA cruise and hope that we will all meet up on board. Thanks for the hotel tip!
Think many of us will be "dining". at the buffet and meeting at the hotel, It should be a fun trip..parrotmom@Verizon.net Several are already planing private tours.
We did a cruise out of Barcelona in November and stayed at the Hotel Continental. As ParrotMom said, the decor is a little over the top....unless you like pink that is.
We had a room with a small balcony overlooking Las Ramblas and could have not been more pleased. What a great place to people watch.
The staff at the hotel was very nice and having drinks and snacks 24 hours a day was great. We also met some very nice people while sitting in the lounge and having a beer....also complimentary.
If you are a snob or only looking for 4* hotels this is not the place for you but if you enjoy a great place with a great location and some local color, you will love the Hotel Continental. We are plannin another cruise that ends in Barcelona and plan on making the Hotel Continental our last stop.
Read and saw there are major improvements at the Continental. The very first floor is now a reception/bag area and there has been a new 24 hour buffet installed. Between that and the newly discovered Pizza Marzano next door (new to me).. touristy restaurants should be off my list.. although I spotted and tried a gelato shop across from La Rambla. BTW if you need a driver/guide let me know..lol His taxi automatically drives from the airport to the hotel...our home in Barcelona..lol
okay, it's funky.. we will have to compare notes on the NCL Sea and the Majesty..We sailed the NCL Sea the first year when it was known as the Seaward and it's last year.. when we ended up in Bermuda North..because of a storm in Bermuda.. parrotmom@verizon.net
There is a growing list of cruisers for this t/a on another board and a Meet and Greet is being planned for after Muster.. Hopefully we can get together outside or inside the Continental or on La Rambla one night.
It took me a while but I FOUND YOU!! Hang in there..I am trying to bring the rest of the crew over from the "dark side".

Why would they kick you off cruise critic? I hope we get the meet and greet list here on this site soon.
One reason is I dared to question the Princess experience over our Celebrity (Celebrity wins hands down)experiece..and refused to be "dissed" by Princess die hards when I questioned service and sanitation....lol. Then I dared to question why...people loved to do "live" broadcasts..(not naming names, of course) on every ship they go on..lol In more then ten years on CC only on the one Princess board did I have a problem with the cruisers.. lol..who defended their line to the death.. even following me on this board with outright name calling.. But never fear.. it was/is the only nasty board I have ever run into..the Celebrity and NCL boards on that site are extremely friendly.. as they are on Cruise Mates. But the more the merrier on Cruise Mates, come on over.. Meanwhile I am looking forward to the new (to me) NCL experiece on the Gem with you all. i've seen pictures, reviews and I'm raring to go.. Barcelona and The Continental are begining to feel like my second home..and I can hardly wait to go back, meet my parrot lady on La Rambla, have a pitcher of sangria next door, visit the market and then explore north of La Rambla and meet you all..
Sandra send me a picture. We are posting our pics on a website for all to see. As soon as I figure things out on this site I will ad the website to my signature.
amy417@att.net
send pics of you and your "colorful children"!
Sandra your pics are up. Anyone else going on this crusie send me your pics. My email is below as well as the website to view the Transatlantic crew.
We are trying to come up with a name for our group. The TransAtlantic Day Trippers. Or how about the Creatures from the Blue Lagoon
Hi to all my cruise friends, Ive come into the light from the dark.....changed my name over here from rcclbound to cruzin4life since Im broading my horizons and trying different cruiselines.
So so glad to be chatting with Parrotmom again!
We are over fifty on the meet n greet, cant wait until we get to meet everyone. I see we have several from the TA already chatting!
I cannot wait until November. THis is going to be a wonderful cruise and since I was just on the Gem in March I won't have to learn where everything is.
With the rotten weather we have had outside of Boston I just can't wait for the cruise..Right now I could be packed in a few minutes if it wasn't for the three extra dogs here I'm dog sitting for friends.. Would you believe almost "out of the blue" booked our 10/10 cruise on the Celebrity Equinox Holyland cruise yesterday..
That sounds like a wonderful trip. How many nights is that one?
