Rotterdam December 23rd Panama Canal

Hi! Anyone sailing the Rotterdam for the holidays? We have been on HAL before, but never the Rotterdam. We have a 10 yr old son who is looking for someone to pal around with during the cruise.

Anyone know if we are able to go ashore in Colon in Panama, or are we just sailing back and forth thru the Canal? Thanks!
