Default Mexico Excursions

Going on the Celebrity Mercury on 11/5 and want to know what the best excursions are. I am interested in snorkeling and deep sea fishing. We are going to Monterey CA, catalina, cabo, puerto vallerta, mazatlan, and Manzanillo. I have heard there is a good snorkeling excursion in PV out to an island. Thanks.

Be sure and rent a golf cart in Catalina. If you rent one before noon, you get 3 hours for the price of 2 ($40 total). 3 hours is plenty time to hit all the sights, take some photos, etc. The kiosk is located in the center of town -- you'll find it easy.

Hope that part helps.

In Mazatlan, you can book the city tour at the pier through Marlin Travel for $13 a person -- great 3 hour trip to see the sights and get some shopping in too.

In Cabo, we always take the glass bottom boat ride that you can also book at the pier -- runs about $12 a person and it takes you to Los Arcos (you can also get off at Lovers Beach, where a lot of people snorkel.

In PV, we now just walk around, but did do the Tequil tour one time, which was lots of fun.

Hope that all helps

Harry (going to Acapoulco, Manzanillo and Ixtapa in October on the Spirit)

Good luck -- did my best recommendations already.

We're in Manzanillo in October -- heard it's great for beaches

Your right about the PV snorkeling. Forgot the name, but we took the boat out to the island, about an hour trip. Did a little whale watching on the way. Got within 30 feet of one of the pod. Got to the island, fairly clear water with plenty of sea life. After about 90 minutes, recalled to the boat for lunch. Then went to a beach for another hour of "free" time before returning to the docks. Great time...

My wife and I did the Canop Tour in PV. We had a great time--you can't be overly large and you should not have a paralyzing fear of heights. The truck ride to the site was almost as exciting as swinging through the trees.

In Manzanillo, we just walked around town ... pretty plaza area right on the bay. Most of the ship excursions amount to those that take you to Manzanillo's host of beaches.

We are not beach people, so we enjoyed soaking up some local color.

By the way, the Hotel Colonial was a fave of many on the ship for drinks and something to eat mid-day -- very pretty '30s type hotel. (Look under my name in Photo galleries for mor epics of teh port.
