Default Beaches with WAVES

On the Mexican Rivera, where are the best surfable beaches?

A lot of surfing types go to Sayulita, when in P.V. It has fair waves, but nothing like Hawaii of course.

never seen anyone surf in Puerto Vallarta, the waves are usually close to the beach and most places are pretty puny

My husband and I went up to Sayulita to surf (about 20 mi north of P.V.) when we were on the Pride last month. You can't bring surfboards on the ship but we rented them by the hour at a place called Captain Pablos in Sayulita.
It's a nice laid back surf spot on the beach with good food, cool drinks, beach chairs & palapas. The waves weren't real big 3-4', but they were glassy.

We rented a car but met some other folks from the ship who'd taken the locals bus north to Sayulita and it only cost them a couple bucks. Our drive took us 35-40 minutes on a paved highway.
***Beware, the drivers in PV Mexico are absolutely crazy. We had a double tanker gas truck pass us on a two lane highway going uphill. Miraculously the Freighliner truck coming in the opposite direction missed him by about 10 feet. Jeeezzzz, I thought we were ALL goners!
