We have a stop in San Diego. I want to take my family of 4 to Sea World but don't want to pay the cruise tour price. I can get tickets at a significant discount. But I'm trying to figure out the best way to get to/from cruise port to Sea World. Getting a cab there shouldn't be a problem, but I'm worried about the return. Would it be worth renting a car at the airport which is only about 2 miles from the cruise port?
I think you're right about the rental car. Still trying to decide if we should do this, after all we only live about 2 hrs away from San Diego and could do Sea World anytime, and the cruise is for us to relax.
The San Diego Tourist Authority phone number is (619)236-1212 press #2 and you will be able to talk to someone. They told me to get off the ship at the pier (which is right in the heart of the waterfront- nice with restaurants ) and go to the right. Then walk down Broadway one block to the trolley station. I will then see the old town transit center and take the #9 bus (1/2 hour ride) to Sea World. On Broadway I can also take the #7 bus running east to the Zoo and Balboa Park. Sounds like a plan. Have a great trip.
