Default Parasailing in Mexico

Hi there:

I'll be in Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan and Cabo San Lucas next week (on the Pride) and am thinking about giving parasailing a whirl (I've never done it before). Does each port offer it and approximately how much does it cost to do it?

Thank you! :o)

Lori,

I know para-sailing is very big in Cabo San Lucas. You can also find some para-sailing hawkers near the Muertos Beach in Puerto Vallarta.

Between the two, I would probably opt to do it in Cabo, because there is less to see and do there (other than shop, eat and drink), as there is a lot to see and do in Puerto Vallarta.

I don't know the cost, but hopefully someone here can tell (I am just too much of a chicken to ever try).

By the way, we were on the Pride for the Cruisemates cruise this year. Had a wonderful time. If you look in the Photo Galleries under Interactive Features, just search my name in the galleries and you will find an entire gallery of ship photos I took.

Thanks so much, Harry. I've already been in the galleries and viewed your beautiful pictures. In fact, your shot of Los Arcos is set as my background (Cabo is my favorite port). BTW, I always enjoy reading your input (I've been visiting Cruisemates.com for the past year or so). Very much appreciate it!

Have a great day! :o)

Ahhh, Lori, thanks so much.

In fact, the photo of me on the balcony in my "signature" is on the Pride heading out of Mazatlan (it was full moon that night).

By the way, in the Mermaids buffet, we tended to hit the deli the most ... lots of good choices.

Oh, and I *always* have to order at least once the BLT from room service. It's a Carnival tradition with me. :-)

There have been two serious parasailing accidents in P.V. at Los Muertos Beach. (Both within the last few years) One person was skewered on a piece of standing rebar in a construction site. He died. Another person landed on the ninth floor roof eve of the Vista Del Sol Condominiums. (These are the condos where we frequently stay.) This person was then accidentally pulled off the roof by the boat to which he was attached and then fell nine stories to the sidewalk below. This person did amazingly live but had serious long term injuries.

Although parasailing is fun, there ARE serious risks involved.

Talk about how to wreck a cruise -- becoming a shishkabob.

Hi there:

I'm back from last week's cruise! Had a wonderful time (as always) and LOVED the Carnival Pride! What a gorgeous ship!

After watching some folks parasail in Cabo and being reminded of how high they really do get in the air, I chickened out and didn't do it after all! bach bach bach! ha!

Lori, hope you can post some photos in the galleries ... or even write a review.

We'd love to hear about your experiences, because the Pride is one of the big ships doing the Mexican Riviera constantly, so many people here will probably sail her.

Harry

The city tour in Mazatlan through Marlin tours is great -- $15 a person and you tour in an open air trolley type shuttle. You can book it at the terminal.
