Vision is too enclosed for my taste. I like being outside without the walls of glass between me and the ocean. I have not been on the Pride, but recently on Spirit, a sister ship and loved the open aft deck.
Will let you know how we like Vision but that cruise is a long ways off. It is a twin to Enchantment which we loved--so open and a spacious feeling with a great centrum. I hear they are stretching Vision so I hope it stays nice. We selected the trip based upon the itin & fact that we can fly non stop to LAX from local airport. Although we may try Carnival at some point with the other itin. that includes Acapulco..the carnival decor in the brochures & pics posted on line at times to me seems a bit garish- Have stayed with Celeb & Royal but willing to try others! We have Constellation, the Brilliance & then Vision colming up so who knows what will be next!
We were on the Pride in March, and just loved it. The Spirit class ships on Carnival are very user friendly and feel very spacious. We have been researching the various Mexican Rivera itineraries (spelling?) and ships but have been unsure if we wanted to try a different ship/cruise line or different ports of call. Last month after alot of research, we booked the Vision in February, but then changed our mind yesterday when Carnival announced a Sale (today is the last day for this one) and ended up canceling the Vision and booking the Spirit for an 8 day cruise out of San Diego for close to the same price with a different itinerary from the Pride/Vision.
If you plan on booking a Balcony room (or already have) I would suggest one of the aft corner rooms. We had reserved #7152 on the Vision, as we heard that the balcony is much larger for the same price as a regular superior balcony cabin. I'm sure that what ever choice you make, you will have a great time. I hope this helps!
Thanks for the info. We booked the same cabin we had on Enchantment--right next to the library--it was open & airy , near the great centrum & we often had the library to ourselves--almost like having a suite w a large living room! We will probably try the Carnival itin if we like that side of Mexico. Would like something that leaves from San Diego so we could explore there pre-cruise. Right now the Vision trip works out better for us with the easy non-stop trip to LAX from small hometown airport (have never flown that long or far!) Have heard that Vision will be strectched so I hope that doesn't ruin her--or change our great cabin location... Appreciate all the tips I get from those in the know!
I have been on both the Vision & the Pride. Both are lovely ships. The Vision was refurbed right before I went on it at the end of October. The food IMHO was superior on the Vision. You cannot go wrong with the Pride though. It is magnificent.
