Default pre-cruise hotel in San Diego

Greetings all. Looking for suggestions for a hotel in San Diego Oct. 23. Does not need to be 5 star rated. Spirit leaves on the 24th. Hopefully some have free shuttle service to the port. Mucho obliged.

Holiday Inn On The Bay - 1355 N. Harbor Drive
Embassy Suites - 601 Pacific Highway

I haven't personally stayed at either hotel, but both are very close to the cruise ship terminal. As both offer airport shuttle service, they probably would be willing to drop you off at the terminal (it's closer than the airport).

Holiday Inn on the Bay has a "Park & Fly" (or "cruise & fly") package at $159 which includes 10 days free parking while you're gone. Shuttle to terminal and airport nearby.

Great Location.

15 cruises and counting

Ryndam for Christmas Dec. 18. Ho Ho Ho

I don't suppose that we will be driving down this time, Grandma Bev. The drive from Juneau would probably take longer down and back than the whole 8 day cruise! Good deal for someone in SoCal though. Twelve cruises for us. Second one this year on the Carnival Spirit.

Sterling,

The Holiday Inn is directly across the street from the cruise terminal ... I think it would be great for you guys ... you can just wheel your bags across the street and you're there.

Here is a link with details:

Sterling, it's also an easy walk across the street to the Maritime Museum. I bet, too, that the hotel has ashuttle to Seaport Village or Horton Plaza. From Horton Plaza, it's an easy walk to the Gaslamp Quarter, with its fantastic restaurants and nightlife.

Sterling Silver;

Paw Paw and I will be driving the 70 miles to San Diego this time to join family for Christmas cruise, so "Park & Cruise" is good for us. Do try to see something of San Diego for a day or two - it's very beautiful. Spending a day in Balboa Park would be great. It consists of the famous S.D. zoo, many fine museums and lovely buildings used by the city of S.D. for their ballet, etc.

Located very close to the Holiday Inn.
P.S. Plan to celebrate my 70th birthday doing the canopy zip tour in Puerto Vallarta. Whee!!!!!!!

Hi Sterling,
We are also sailing on the 24th. The Holiday in on the Bay is full, also they do not shuttle you to the pier you walk there. That's what they told me anyway. We are booked at the Best Western Posada at the Yacht Harbor. We got the manager special for 3 people for $79.20. They offer free shuttle from the airport and to the pier. They also have expanded continental breakfast.
Hope this helps. If you should find out about any excursions not thru the cruise ship I would really be interested. Looking for snorkeling and day at the beach. Can't wait.
Cathy

I would suggest a tour of the USS Midway (aircraft carrier) which is parked 1/2 block south of the cruise terminal. It's $10/$13 for a self guided tour which includes ear phones. Need several hours to really see it. Laurie

Hi all, I will also be on this cruise October 24th. We will be staying at the Bestwestern Bayside inn San Diego (555 West Ash Street, San Diego, CA 92101). I know of another person who is staying there as well. I think they allow you to park there while you cruise!

We are debating between the Raddison (Front Street) and the Hampton Inn (Harbor Dr)- both within a mile away. We aren't - anyone ever stayed at either of these places?

I looked up a bunch of links when we last Octobewr. Hope these links helps.

Harry

Here is the original message:

Been researching on www.google today for our cruise beginning Friday to Acapulco, Ixtapa and Manzanillo, and thought I would share these sites for future cruisers. The last link is my favorite. ;-)

Harry

At any rate, here are the links:

Acapulco Tours:

Acapulco beaches:

Great Ixtapa/Z site for general info:

Manzanillo Sights to See:

And finally, yeah, I'm sure Carnival will offer this shore tour in Manzanillo:
