Default PV, Mazatlan, Cabo suggestions

Hi folks ... Robin posted this note in that *long* PV Cruisers Guide message, and I thought she would get a better response if I pulled it out.

Harry

Here it comes:

My husband and I will be visiting Puerto Vallarta via the Princess Diamond the first week in November 2004. We have never visited Mexico and are deciding whether to book shore excursions through Princess or an independent Co. Should we visit the beach or Sierra Madre??? Would like to horseback ride if possible. Any info or suggestions would be WONDERFUL!!! Any recommendations for Cabo and Mazatlan would be a bonus

Thank You,
Robin and Rick Long

Robin,

I think your best bet for beach in November is Puerto Vallarta, being the furthest south. I've heard great things about Randi's happy horses (Mazatlan) but have never tried them. We are thinking about doing a tour in Cabo that takes us by los arcos, we're visiting the same ports on Legend at the end of August. I've booked excursions in Mexico not through the cruiseline and they were fine experiences. However, you do have to keep in mind that they are not responsible to get you back to the ship on time (if there was a breakdown of bus or boat) so best to do it early and think about the possible risks and if you are ok with that.

Margie, to get to Los Arcos, you can book one of the glass bottom boats at the pier for about $12 a person. They will take you out to the Arcos, stop here and there, and then take you to the Pacific side.

Harry,

Thanks for the info. Now if I can drag my husband onto the boat! But for $12 he just might go for it.

We leave Sunday!!!

Said a prayer for you and your mom last night.

Robin,
Please tell - how was your cruise? What excursions did you try?

We are also on this same cruise leaving L.A. on November 6th. I will be celebrating my birthday and we just celebrated our 17th anniversary.

In Cabo the best snorkeling spots are Chileano Bay and Santa Maria, which you can get to by boat. There are a few excursions through Princess. We are taking an excusion booked through Mexico Tours to Stone Island when in Mazatlan and doing the Marietas Islands Eco Discovery tour out of Puerto Vallarta, which we will book through Princess. The only reason we are using Mexico Tours in Mazatlan is that they offer the Stone Island Tour for half the price of Princess through this website www.mazatlan.com.mx. It is packed with info on Mazatlan.

Perhaps we will meet on the ship during the cruise.
