Default Ashore in Mexico...Help!!!

We're clueless cruise beginners and will be visitng Cabo, Zihuatanejo, Acapulco, Huatulco, and Puntarenas on the first part of a Panama Canal cruise on the Zaandam in Oct. Please give us the benefit of your experiences with shore excursions in any of these ports and any other information that might help such inexperienced cruisers as we obviously are. Muchas gracias!

Search the photo galleries with my name, and you will see photos of our stops in Acapulco and Zijuatenejo (gorgeous port, by the way).

We did the cultural tour in Acapulco, which was a good overview of sights in the area, though it did skip the cliff divers (which I heard were excellent).

In Zijuatenjo, it's a great place to just wander about town, but people raved about the tour that went to the beach that is only accessible via water taxi.

Harry, Thank you very much for your help. We'll be sure to check out the Acapulco cliff divers and that special beach in Zihuatanejo. I loved all your pictures and if I can figure out our new camera, I hope to be able to post some of ours when we return. Again, thanks for your great advice!

My pleasure ... In cabo, you can take the glass bottom boats out to Los Arcos for $12 a person (a 45-minute and up close look). It's a good town to walk about and have lunch on the marina.

I was talking with my pal/lender last night, and we are thinking about going back to Acapulco on the Spirit in January. The ports were that good.

You've been so helpful I wish I could buy you a margarita in Acapulco!
Have you heard anything about the horseback riding tour along the beach in Cabo...(I thought it sounded romantic but I believe my husband would rather have a root canal)... the glass bottomed boat just might be the perfect compromise. Gratefully, Judy

Judy, mainly I hear about horse back riding in Mazatlan. On the Los Arcos boat ride, you can jump off and wade into Lovers Beach if you want some beach time, too.

We enjoyed the La Quebrada cliff divers in Acapulco. Stopkeepers in Huatulco do not speak English or give out American change. If you want to go to the beach in Cabo, take a cab not a water taxi. The Office is a good place to hang out at the beach, because the vendors will not bother you. Some of my cruise pals did the ATV excursion in Cabo, and they loved it.
