Default Long Beach Airport to San Pedro Pier

I realize people have to make a living but $35 and $40 in cab fare for 12 miles of transport is way over "reasonable". I noticed that Long Beach has only one taxi company. Hummm. Anyone know of any optional shuttles that offer transport between these two points?

Those fees are pretty normal. Actually the fare returning from the cruise ship terminal to Long Beach Airport is actually higher using L.A. based cab companies where there is more competition.

If your luggage situation is such that you can handle it without assistance, the #111 city bus goes from the airport to downtown Long Beach and the waterfront area. You're probably looking at around a $1 a person. You even get a little sightseeing thrown in for good measure. If it doesn't take you where you need to go, you can at least get off by a hotel downtown and have the front desk call a cab for you. They don't charge an arm and a leg from downtown to the port, only from the airport because they know you're flying in from out of town. Besides, most of downtown is just a few blocks from the port.

Thank You. Managing the luggage is the clincher. Two large suitcases/carry-on would not work via bus route. I use to live in Long Beach (20 yrs. ago) therefore appreciate what you said about the distance from downtown.
