Default BEST TO DO IN PV

We are scheduled on the Diamond Princess for Jan 22, 2005 -- our first cruise. My question is this. We want to spend the day in PV just "visiting" and finding a good mexican restuarant. Nothing special but don't really know where to start. I looked at some of the maps and it seems quite large. We are in our eairly fifties and just want a relaxing time. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks Terry

My first two choices would be Mariscos Polo for incredible seafood or Las Carmelitas for a genuine Mexican experience with the most amazing view of Banderas Bay. The taxi ride is a real adventure.

You can take the van from the cruise terminal ($3 a person) and it drops you right by the cathedral. From here, you can do a wonderful walking tour. Head south downtown, and you will come across the Rio Cuake area (which is the river that cuts through downtown). Walk down and do some shopping in the tropical area. Two restaurants here -- Le Bistro and the Rover Cafe at the western end get high marks. You can then take the new pedestrian bridge over to Los Muertos beach for a stroll along the sand (and maybe a strong margarita at Burros right on the beach). Walk back over the pedestrian bridge and stroll along the malecon, and then grab a cab back to the ship ($5 for the ride back).
