Default Mayan ruins

Which Mayan ruins would be better to see? Chitzen Itza or ones that are
closer? We will sail on the Glory on 7/30 and would like to get some
opinions. Are the ships excursions the ones to take or any other

I would consider how long your ship is in the port and how long the tour will take. If you take an all day excursion with extensive traveling away from the port, I would highly recommend the ship's tour. If it is a shorter excursion close to the port, then doing it on your own is less of a risk.

Being Carnival dropped Progresso from the Glory sailings , you will not have an easy time visiting the ruins...I hear it is a 14 hr. tour from Cozumel.

It is a 6-7 hour tour from Cozumel to the Tulum ruins if you do it with Carnival. I would not suggest doing this tour on your own. I think it would be best to do any ruins from a mainland port and not Cozumel.

Now that the Glory is not stopping in Progresso, I guess that Chitzen
Itza is out of the question, but that Tulum is do-able as we will be in
Cozumel for over 12 hours. I was hoping that Carnival would add that
to its excursions, but I have not seen it happen yet. Does anyone know
of a good excursion company that would go to Tulum from Cozumel?
Are there any other cruisers sailing on the Glory on 7/30, that would
be interested in doing it? Maybe we could get a group rate. ANy ideas
would be helpful.
